Between the coupe and aperta Ferrari produced 710 LaFs, I'd expect it to be closer to ~850-900 units.
HP 1,100, launch last half 2024, cost ~$3 million. Number of units similar to SF90 XX. Could it be revealed in October 2024 at World Finals at Imola. Where and whenever, I will try to be there for the launch. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Taking into account that beating the valkyrie was one of the targets the question is how extreme will this car be? A modern step up from the LaFerrari or are we talking road legal LM prototype (499P) ? The Name..... The name for the F250 has to be really special like those that came before. It has to set it self apart. F40 (40th Anniversary), F50 (50th Anniversary), Enzo, LaFerrari.
Dry weight more likely under 1500 considering SF90 XX weighs 1560 kg. Concerning the name, there are trademarks as « La Rossa », « Drake » or more simple F80. 499 GTB / GTS / Speciale are names for the SF90 M because I can’t imagine Ferrari making a special version of F250
499 it’s capacity of each cylinder for v6 engine, if you can imagine Ferrari put 499 name in v8 engine ?
You have to remember the higher actual production than the official figure. For the LaF + LaF A, it was 850 (similarly F50 circa 375 and Enzo circa 480). So the real number of road cars will correspondingly be higher than the official number and so likely to break 1,000 units.
If I’m not wrong the engine on SF90 is 3992 Cm3, so if you divided 3992 by 8 the result is 499 so perhaps…..
when I stated the 499 for coupe and 199 for aperta i was talking official number on paper. In real world the numbers can (and will) rise
I wish they stopped coming up with special names, "LaFerrari" is still terrible when I think of it. Just give it a cool name FFS, don't go crazy over history and homages... Other manufacturers do this quite well.
I see what your saying but I really think they’ll have to give it an actual name now that it’s started with the Enzo , LaF etc
Wondering what a name could be though, they’ve used the founder and followed it up with ‘the Ferrari’. Not sure what’s left to go higher?! GTO is the most revered name in the catalogue and hasn’t been used for about 15 years. It’s time Other alternatives could be… Le Mans 499 LM Centenario 499 GT 499 Stradale But Ferrari probably won’t do any of our suggestions if they read this thread. And neither would I - just for the amusement of it!!
I love it! Since this car has nothing to do with the 499P racer, any 499 derivative is also out of the question.
In my view they have a 2 ways. They can ride the 499p LM glory an name it 499 stradale( both V6 and hybrid. Or go separate way(as the car was not tightly conected to LM project. The price will be north of 2mil . My guess is they will go separate, and produce 2 models which can not be sold for millions. Why combine, when the can double the [ huuuuge (in tramp way of saying it )] profit.
That's the technology transfer line they have been following for decades now. Nothing new there. Even the 296 can lay claim to using the same basic engine as the 499P, not to mention the 296 GT3. That doesn't mean they are going to name a car after a totally different project.
They wont name it that way regardless. The Halo line has its own special name system that set it apart from the other models. However after ENZO and LaFERRARI its going to be tuff.
To be honest, all supercars, let alone hypercars, are absurdly powerful and quick these days. That said, Ferrari can't be left behind in the power/performance wars. Since the "mere mortal" SF90 XX already serves 1030 HP, the hypercar will need to significantly up the ante in order to compete with other hypercars and also justify its pricing within the Ferrari range. That can be done by either adding more power, or extreme reduction of weight. Since the dimensions and hybrid/battery system dictate the minimum weight, it will need to counter that with more power. The jump in power between the Enzo and the LaFerrari was 300+ CV. It is not unreasonable to expect a similar jump now, which would also put more clear blue water between the hypercar and the rest of the range. You can't have a pesky SF90 snapping at your heels... The only problem is that if they get to utilise the V6, there is a limit in the power it can produce, putting the onus on the electrical system for providing the extra oomph. Let's wait and see...
