. It takes a very "schrewd" person in there to negotiate with those people. I can't pretend to be able to do so (since I pay by cash and its different) and BE ONE OF THOSE....they KNOW you want the car and if that makes them an extra 1/2-1 point oh yeah, they are all for that....GL, stand tough. That 75bbs is just a start

Fair enough, but those were different times. I thought we were discussing the current market. If not, then I had a chance to buy one for less than 200k in 2016. Been kicking myself for 7 years.

They were never under $200k unless a salvage. you are thinking about a different model and don't seem to understand the Speciale market.

I currently own a Speciale and very much made a bid for one at 180k euro in 2016. Sorry, I did confuse things by not specifying the currency. Got outbid by 5 thousand by another buyer and lost the car. I understand the Speciale market quite well in both the US and Europe. What I don't understand is the point of bringing up what the cars cost 2021.

Euro car, exchange rate, have no idea quality of car. The fact is US market Speciales even in the bottom 25% of the market barely dipped below $300k.

Sept 2020 I nearly bought 2k mile Speciale for 348k USD, which I thought was too high. Same car now more like 548k USD, if not more.

Speciale’s are only traveling north, that’s obvious, numbers talk.

Don’t analyze 3 years behind market. Nonsense.

Last V8 NA , moreover mounted on a special track oriented edition, it has all ingredients to become a super star.

Remembers me to F40, in early 2000’s, after 10 years of production, she was worth 250k, maintaining strong her price above MSRP; Twenty years later, 1,5M is the bottom line.

These times we are living maybe are the last opportunity to buy it at “reasonable” prices. In a couple of years -or less- you won’t find one below 500k.

    Everyone likes Speciale, no discussion.

It's a great car, but you are smoking crack.

Speciale by itself is worth everything you say, but as the price rises it also becomes more and more comparative to other Ferraris and also other makes. Would EVERYONE pay over $500k for a Speciale if they can get a Pista for under $500k? How about as it approaches GTO or TdF prices? If Speciales appreciate as you say, it won't be by itself, it will because most of the high end Ferraris moved in the same way.

Maybe not everyone, but I'm happy we did. Such an engaging car.

They are a long way off from approaching anything close to a TdF let alone a GTO and comparing a mid engine car in the Speciale to a front engine Tdf can't be compared directly. The 288GTO at 3.5M and nearly 40 years old can't be compared directly either. And of course the TdF and the GTO were limited production and unfortunately the the Speciale was not a limited production run. In the short run, the Speciale will do its own thing and would likely track what the limited production SpecialeA is doing. My guess is that the SpecialeA will double from its current price at some point and that alone will drive Speciale prices higher.

Maybe not "everyone," but if one were to drive each back-to-back, I'd argue majority would go Speciale.... :)

Everyone is what sets the market though, not what a dedicated Speciale fan thinks they’re worth.

If you compare Speciale and Pista just because of pure performance and because it’s newer, you missed the point.

One thing you are right, top of the tree cars will pull of lower branches.

Why 430’s are going up? Cause 458’s are pulling and so on. No rocket science.

    What car do you have?

I remember one under 1k miles for $375k or so when I received a Pista allocation instead. And a scud with 895miles for $250k. Those were the days.

One example of US market right now. On cargurus 8 Pistas under 500k. 2 Speciales under 500k and one of them is a salvage.

It would appear that professional car dealers already tend to think the Speciale is at least even in value to the Pista, if not a bit higher already. "Everyone" is a silly thing to base a market on. The subset of people who would buy a Pista or Speciale of tdf or gto is an extremely small percentage of "everyone". And that subset in the US is currently valuing Speciales quite highly despite their performance shortcomings in comparison to the Pista.

What is a bit odd is that this is reversed in Europe where Pistas trade at a bit of a premium to the Speciales (about 5%).

Every day you learn something, Speciale is not last V8 NA.

I was looking for a certain spec Aperta in 2018/2019. Couldn’t find it and my dealer took in an 8,000 mile, stripeless, Speciale coupe that I bought as a placeholder while I waited to find an Aperta. Paid just under $300k US. It’s such a great car and not only have I kept it, I have no plans to sell it. I’ve grown to really love the lack of a stripe. I think the Speciale does stripeless better than the CS, Scud, or Pista.
