Just drove an Esprit Turbo for the first time. Huge thanks to Carl, another ripper in his collection. Perfect spec, unmolested and actually quite fun to punt around Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, came as part of deal with 3 other (amazing) cars but I’ll let Carl tell you about those when he’s ready
As Carl has often said...."I grew up dirt poor ,bought a Lotus ,drove to A Viaduct and HAB ,nice ride Carl ......
No glass roof? Is the roof still removable? Non the less, still a very desirable specced car! P.S Sorry - the US side markers on the Oz delivered cars do it no favours though.
I actually meant Greg’s opinion. He does drive a Mondial after all - so clearly a man with taste and objectively eschews image over substance!
The Lotus is “fun” but the Mondial is next level in terms of build quality, especially the interior. Feels better planted on the road too. Then there is the visceral experience, Ferrari always wins hands down.
Totally agree about the build quality and interior - or at least objectively speaking as I rather do like the style of Esprit interior personally and the cockpit feel of it. I’m surprised about the Esprit feeling less planted - I thought the opposite although it was 10 years apart when I drove a 308 and an S3 Turbo. The Esprit has a longitude mid engine so the centre of gravity is lower and so should feel more planted but the backbone chassis is not the most rigid of structures. It’s interesting how handling feel can be so subjective - I never really liked that sensation of oversteer twitchiness when one drove a G series 911 quickly but others would love the extra feel and claim it wasn’t twitchy at all.
