who organizes the best Ferrari events to the level and volume that Canossa does? I would say the Ferrari clubs do a pretty good job as they keep costs down not much profit, but their expertise and class of service isn't up to the level of Canossa.
Agree with Rob. Its not about growing a passion. Its one of the last places I want to go with kids running around. It is being placed as a luxury event. Want a place for the kids? Go to Disney World. There are a lot of things Canossa is doing I don't like and why I am no longer judging there but trying to keep it a special exclusive event isn't one of them.
Agreed 100%. Now if they can just get some of the real judges back they might get good judging done. Every year more and more find something better to do.
They aren't really interested in serious judging anymore. Lifestyle and bling bling is much more important. Marcel Massini
They only even bought it because it is a prereq for Best of the Best Award. Wonder how long they will still be a qualifying event? Its only a matter of time before they figure it out.
The expertise is higher. FCA has a higher standard for our judges. We actually require judges that know something. Cannosa is using more warm bodies every year.
I agree with you there. Judging: FCA > Canossa Costs: FCA > Canossa All that said once you get over that you get over that Canossa is a business vs. FCA and that Canossa is different than John Barnes, then I think you can appreciate it more for what it is. I heard FCA Nationals was kind of thin this year, is the volunteer club model sustainable? I'm a Capitalist, if Cavallino is able to thrive for decades to come because it is a healthier business, then I'm all for that vs. a dying business that then no one wanted to take over. I'm also Free Market, if the old Cavallino and FCA Club way of doing things is so great, then do it.
It was thin and we all knew in advance that would be the case. Turn out was far better than expected to those of us that have attended many and know the formula for a well attended event. Go to Elkhart lake next year. It will be far from thin and the large collectors already committed will be eye opening.
The Middle East event was super thin, like 30 cars and you may want to check out what cars....... As for the GTO Reunion the key people were not the ones from Canossa. Not at all. Marcel Massini
I guess Barnes selling to Canossa is like Ferrari going public. It just ain't the same under new ownership.
Sorry for the novice question, but what event? Elkhart Lake is about 7-8 hours from my house - never been there. MDS
FCA Nationals. Elkhart Lake is a great racetrack, highly recommended. Also, that entire region is beautiful. Marcel Massini
NO! These are the dates for the Monterey Car Week. Nothing to do with FCA Nationals. The dates for the FCA Annual/National Meet at Elkhart Lake and Osthoff Resort in WI are September 8-11, 2024. Please do verify this with the official FCA website. Marcel Massini
So are they educating the new demographic how to identify cars? I heard a week ago that a person very close to the event who will stay un named is disgusted with the number of long time collector/regular entrants who are not participating and the number of very experienced long time judges who are not coming. I was saw a list of judges. Lots of names I do not know. It should be interesting.
