Wow... if you haven't been inside yet I suggest you go. If you like the general vibe of The Cosmo, you'll love this place.

I wonder who they will pull customers from, and who is their targeted market.

While great looking, will the rooms be better at the same prices? Shows? Better restaurants? Better odds at the machines? Better comp policies with tier matching?

    free parking?

    Better service?

They are going to get a huge share of the Convention business. Also its easier to get to than the core of the Strip. Parking is not free but no different than Wynn now -- First 4 hours free. I believe it will have some of the best rooms on the Strip and certainly the best suites.

They are going upscale and not going with the cheapest price strategy. From what I've seen of the food and drinks its inline to other major Strip resorts. I'm having dinner at their steak house this Saturday.

I posted in another thread about the total lack of response from their marketing/host/concierge people. The staff we met were friendly but clueless. I write to a big shot and did not get any acknowledgement of my email...same with concierge and host staff. Their launch training must be awful.

so hard to find good employees, it is affecting every company (other than chic filet sp?)

The ritz has a heck of a training program, but even they are struggling with staff.

Mark, I know. FB raided MGM and Stations....Caesar's I understand did not lose many management level employees to FB. As I said, every employee I spoke with was friendly and eager but just clueless. When Janet and I went in to the place there were FIVE employees in suits standing behind the concierge desk. I told them how I had been trying to get a preview/escort to see their high end suites. They said they were not doing hat, maybe the front desk. I asked "could you make a call?" Answer "I don't think we are doing that." Contrast that with Resorts World, where a concierge welcomed us (this was right after it opened), showed us three different suites (including a spectacular 3 bedroom I think on 64th floor), offered us a coffee and then arranged for a house car to take us back to Bellagio

I think there is widespread disappointment with the launch phase. The convention business will make or break that property. Their decision not to match tier status with MGM, Caesar's, Stations, etc. cost them. My posts 6 and 9 are indicative of bad first impressions/interactions. I'll be talking to a senior exec at FB later this week. We'll see if I learn anything.

Did you guys see the "Chipgate" story making the rounds. Guy took a picture of $ 24 nacho plate that he ordered at FB sports book. Said it took an hour to be delivered, and when it came, it had SIX chips.

Janet and I were the guests of a friend, a senior exec at FB. We were treated to Champagne in the Collins bar just off the lobby, and then were escorted to the Poodle Club on the 64th floor. In another thread I described the view as spectacular. Every amenity is first class. Service impeccable. Just beautiful. No photos allowed inside the Club.

Could it be that the FB is just a tad too far down the Strip that everybody is use to? In my mind, the Strip goes from Mandolay Bay to TI, no farther north.

This thread just may save me.

I am a first time Las Vegas visitor and plan to go with my wife.

I would appreciate some guidance as to the best travel coordinator/travel agent or another source to assist me in obtaining a package including travel, amenities, show tickets..etc that is reasonable.

    Thanks very much

Pete. They are relying on convention biz for the weekly traffic. As the Mayor and others have noted, the north end of the strip shows a lot of promise but it is still remote. It's a $30 or so UBER / taxi from Bellagio. You wouldn't want to walk it, or necessarily wander around there after dark. Ruffin is putting some money into Circus Circus, and of course Resorts World up that way has the same issue...you kind of on an island. I think FB will gain some traction but pricing/discounting will play a key role. Their loyalty program is not attractive, they did not do matching status upon opening for Harrah's, Wynn, Stations, MGM etc. JSwan you are not set up to receive PMs. If you want to hare email or cell, I'd be happy to have a full conversation with you; happy to help.
