I don't disagree with what you've said, but a possible counter arguement is that you rarely get multiple parties bidding against each other in a private sale.

There’s no question that a direct seller usually needs more patience than an auction consignor to get his price. If I were the seller of this car I wouldn’t have consigned it at no reserve. If the high bid doesn’t meet reserve then the bidder and seller have the opportunity to negotiate after the auction.

There's an early 1975 example up on BAT right now:

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1975-ferrari-dino-308-gt4-43/

It's a little rough around the edges, but aside from its unique color, there's a whole lot of originality to it, and some very good and useful documentation. I think this is a prime candidate for preservation or restoration.

Interestingly enough #10444 which I wanted badly because it was an original Dino orange car has again hit the market on eBay. So two of my favorite color cars hit the market at the same time! Funny how things work. This green car is the more original example and has some nice rare bits. The eBay ad for 10444 is very vague so I have no idea if the cars been stripped of its rare manual cover etc that was with the car when it sold on BAT in 2022.

I don’t recall if it had a buy it now price, but I don’t think so. It was in exactly the same condition as when it was on bat minus some of the manuals etc.

    Thanks.

Found. Last sold July '22 @ $45K. Listed as "Project"

    https://www.classic.com/veh/1975-ferrari-308-gt4-project-10444-pdv8Jon?tab=specs

Relisted so soon on eBay is curious. Wonder what it needed and if whatever the "project" was, has been completed?

When it sold on BAT I inquired with the seller and he told me that a father and son had bought it and were planning on restoring it together. I’m not sure if they changed their mind, or figured upon inspection that is was too big a project for them. Perhaps it will turn up again.

I remember that one. IIRC it was for sale in the NE, maybe NJ, probably 15 years ago.

Found it, this is from April 2012 and was discussed on this forum at the time. I have no other info but IIRC an older gentleman customized the car to his liking.

A Euro car ruined unless it can be put back for reasonable cost and effort.
