I just can’t get my head around their thinking. I mean, you can have your own opinions, but you can’t have your own FACTS. Jan 26 is the date that all of us became Australians, rather than British subjects. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the arrival of the first fleet. The Mabo decision specifically states that the country wasn’t invaded, it was settled. There is a big difference. And, let’s play devils advocate for a minute. Let’s imagine it was an invasion. Well, after being here for tens of thousands of years it was a pretty piss-poor effort of defending, wasn’t it? Why should this island be special? Every other place on the planet has been settled, invaded, whatever more times than you can count. Get over it.
Apparently the Australian Open won’t be acknowledging the day. In the past, they’ve inducted an Australian player into the hall of fame on the 26th. Lleyton Hewitt is being inducted this year….on the 24th I am so sick of these virtue signalling fwits. The reality is, Australia as we know it began when the first fleet arrived. What we enjoy today started then and was built upon by others whom followed. To deny and not celebrate that is shameful and disrespectful. Lefties will never be happy, and I’m happy with that. Imagine the French or the Dutch had invaded or during WW 2 under French/Dutch rule the Japanese invaded? While WE celebrate on Friday, the losers of the left moan and weep if there not happy here simple F/off somewhere else !

I know the French were right there. Can we guess how well the indigenous people would be going now if the French arrived a few days earlier? As I said, the first fleet did not make their first landing on January 26. They landed and had apparently peaceful contact with the locals a few days before that. And then when they did raise a flag a few days later they stood around having a drink, as opposed to rushing inland guns blazing. Funny old “invasion”, eh?
You're right. Australia day is an issue for some indigenous people. And not because it's the arrival of the first fleet (It wasn't that day BTW). That's because they're in this kind of ying/yang vortex to reconcile the fact that white people settled here, which they blame on the desecration of their culture, yet with the other hand out, take from the white man, and all that he has done for them, medical care, 473 Government agencies, increased lifespan, housing, handouts, not to mention educational opportunities gratis and without entry requirements (except identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander) which are denied to hard working, taxpaying whites. How long is this train wreck of guilt going to continue? It has been going on for hundreds of years, with no meaningful dialogue nor solution (Hint, there is no solution). However you're wrong saying it doesn't affect me. My taxation contributions go towards propping up this nonsense. The Aboriginal tribes are a primitive race that just want to be left alone. The real ones that is.

It is incongruous that such sentiment even gets a mention. Meanwhile, mainland China buy our infrastructure, Dan Andrews plunges Victoria into 200B worth of debt whilst tender little cupcakes, produced by what used to be our great and respected tertiary institutions, are concerned about Aboriginals (They aren't, they just care about themselves) along with gender identity politics. What we need is welfare for those that really need it, national service and the death penalty, starting with those that commit home invasions. Oh, and an accountable Government.
