Roger that
The thing is we kind of saw that with the 458 to 488 to f8, appreciate significant change in the introduction of the turbo engine but it still felt like one car evolved a couple of times. If this is really the last one, seems odd to pile a ton of money into developing all new everything when it won't be able to go for multiple generations of refinement.
Hope this is all new and more than that we do not see elements of SP cars. What gives me hope is the Roma, if they can bring some of that elegance to the new V12...having said that I really like the 812.
How much horsepower should we expect for the F167?Some automotive news websites reported 850 CV(840 hp) but I expected a bigger power jump considering how powerful cars are getting nowadays. A few weeks ago @day355 announced the car would feature one of the highest revving engines on the market, just behind the GMA T.50/T.33 and AM Valkyrie,so around 11.000 rpm, quite a big jump compared to the current 9500 rpm,840 hp would be kinda underwhelming considering the AM Valkyrie gets 1000+ hp from the same displacement. Making the F140 rev a lot higher for just a 10 hp gain would be excessive. Also can someone confirm the car won't even be a mild hybrid? From what I heard mild hybrids don't need the yellow sticker on the prototypes.
The Valkyrie is hybrid, and a lot more extreme car, I don´t think they can get near 1,000 hp with this engine. I expect the usual +20/30 hp bump there is between newer versions of the same engine type.
Sometimes I think that the F167 might have “ears” like the Lamborghini Murciélago. But not for cooling the engine, but as an active aerodynamic solution in the rear area. I stumbled across some old design sketches of the F12 Berlinetta development. Something very similar was tried there. However, they decided on the Aero Bridge at the front and also used it on the Purosangue. The solution in the rear area is reminiscent of the flying buttresses of the 599 GTB Fiorano, but on the F167 it could be more lateral and flatter. What do you think?
The rear of the car IS like an F12 TRS except instead of one tail light and dual exhausts on each side, it’s got dual slot shaped tail light lenses on each side and one F22 Raptor esque trapezoid shaped exhaust canister on each side. You can already see all of this on the test mules, some of which have exposed body work where there are gaps in the camouflage
I have seen resemblance to rear of F12 TRS in many mule photos where some black body work has been exposed, including post # 6208 above. With that being said, YOU have seen the actual final design so of course I defer to you my friend!
My two cent guess here? The normal production versions rev to 9,800 and the VS models will rev to 10,000 in final send off of non-icona V12
My bet is around 10,250 rpm max. Does anyone else know of an event regarding the F167 this week for some dealers?
9000 is already high. It is the gearjng that matters. Not the rpm if rpm is already above 8000. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Apologies for this rediculous first post, but I am interested in purchasing an 812. I have owned three McLarens prior, a 570S, 675LT and 765LT. The first two I sold for large losses, while the last I actually made more than the MSRP I paid for the car. I fully understand that cars are depreciating assets, and I know I will lose money on it, but do you think it's worth waiting until the 812 successor is announced before buying one in hopes we see similar drops in value like the F12? The upside of buying now is my local dealer said they would give me an allocation for the 812 successor if I buy a used 812. Thoughts? This will be my first Ferrari purchase. Not sure I want to pay MSRP for cars anymore, at least not a McLaren!
