Ciao a tutti. Endless discussion, I know. But I like to make noise… So today if you had unlimited money and could pick up just one car from the list upon the condition to keep it forever - and to be taken away from you when you die! - which one would you get? (Sorry but the car is free so you cannot get the 288 GTO or the F40 or any other limited edition). Ciao ciao from Bologna! Nic
I might be a bit biased owning one, but I will say gated 360. I have no intentions of selling it and upgrading. Sent from my toilet using FerrariChat.com mobile app
twist my arm..... these 2 are my favorite mid engine Ferrari v8's and you didnt even have them on the list .... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I picked 308 for its prettiness factor. I would have picked its sister, the 288 GTO, but it wasn’t on the list.
I would keep my Mondial QV but if I would go a little modern then a 355 challenge. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
For cars that I have driven or had a lot of exposure to (348-458) and assuming I would think 308/328 would just not have enough performance to please me, it would have to be an F8…..although I know little about it.
Mondial t I've been blessed to experience all cars on your list, here is my ranking for the rest 355 308 GT4 F430 360 SF90 F8 488 458 348 Mondial 3.2/QV 328 308 Mondial 8 308 Gtsi Before the laughter comes out, just pointing out Keenan Rolsen recently put the t above his 355 (he just sold last month)
If we could have European spec 308s here in California, I’d be on board. In U.S. trim, a blu sera 328 would be my favorite. Having had a QV and 328, I appreciated the reliability of the 328, and its simplicity. Everything just worked, and to my eye they look very exotic — maybe due to being small and low. You don’t need fender shields on a 308/328 to know what it is. If you want a gated shifter… all of them are gated. Performance was great in the 1980s, now not much to brag about. But now that I’m back in the air-cooled 911 world I’ve found that driving enjoyment is actually better in the classic stuff. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I did not drive the cars before the 348 but I suspect they are too much outdated now - and they were still the lesser Ferrari at times when the V12 were the flagships and real Ferrari. From all the others (including the 348), which I all had the chance to drive, my preferred would be the F8 - as a V8, I like a lot my 488 and the F8 is an improved 488. Currently it's not the best value for money because the price gap with the 488 is too high in my opinion, but it's still a better car. So I'd put the F8 first and the 488 second. Then I'd have (in that order) the F430, the 355, the 458 and the 360 - with the 348 ending the list.
F8 SF90 488 430 355 458 Then all the other stuff from the 308-360 equally ugly and disliked. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
True! < 1,900 Though the true secret of the car is how well it drives. Model (units) 458 (18K) 360 (16K) F430 (15K) 488 (15K) 308 (12K) 355 (11K) 348 (9K) 328 (7K) SF90 (in production) F8 (?) 308 GT4 (3K)
To give context to my choices. For Ferrari motoring nirvana, I have five intangibles. 1) Gated 2) Full Open Top 3) Mid-engine 4) No robot as a co-driver. (I already have that for the rest of my life, thank you very much.) 5) Last/Latest/Best/Limited evolution of said car* Only three Ferrari ticks all the boxes above (at any price.) F50, 355*, t *One of the 26 SF is only one I would consider if not at stupid prices, and I don't got 3 Million lying around for a F50. Which leaves....the t. For Speed (but more isolation/less NVH/and an AI nanny to help you co-pilot) Easy = Whatever the next Ferrari is going to be. (repeat) - which violates the "For Life" condition of the OP don't it?
Well, I said Ferrari, not Dino, and focussed on the “poor man’s choice”… orherwise with F40, 288 GTO or the Scuderias the poll was pointless… But I will make another with special models if you want. Ciao!
Spoiler alert: This is THE answer for the poll!!! . For me, unquestionably a tie between a 328 and a Mondial 3.2 (no Mondials listed, but I prefer the 3.2 Mondial over the t for looks and simplicity). The Mondial "t" is obviously excellent also, can easily see why some favor the t over the 3.2. All "post Mondial 8" versions of the Mondial (QV, 3.2, t) are excellent to drive/own. The 328 era is perfect for me -- old enough to be raw and visceral, while new enough to be docile and excellent in daily driving -- and A/C that "sorta kinda" works . 328 gets the nod for drives up to 1.5 hours, Mondial gets the nod for drives up to 4 hours. A water-cooled Porsche 911 gets the nod for trips of 4+ hours .
