New pictures recently appeared of the Purosangue with the pixelated brown graphics and an heart logo. I'm curious to know what Flavio Manzoni thinks of this tampering with one of his team's latest creations. He will probably think the same as the overwhelming majority of us. However, he cannot say so because the owner of this aberration of Purosangue owns 20% of the shares in a company called Diciembre which controls another called Giovanni Agnelli B.V. which finally controls Exor N.V. which holds a 22.91% stake in Ferrari and thus controls it.
When a famous DJ from Canada wrapped his 458 Spider in blue psychedelic patterns and placed his logo Ferrari sent him an angry letter and unless he removed the livery the issue would escalate to a lawsuit. When one of the largest individual shareholders of Ferrari's biggest shareholder makes this mockery of the Ferrari brand, in the future the company has completely lost its legitimacy to warn or sue anyone like it used to do. Ferraris in pink or with any aberrant finish will probably begin to proliferate.

This Purosangue appears regularly at my Ferrari dealer in Lisbon but I haven't had the opportunity to see it in person yet. This week I was there and found out some more details about it. The Pixels that I thought were a wrap turned out to be not, the car was entirely painted by hand, imagine that. The inside of the doors also have the owner's name painted on them.
I ended up looking in detail at another Purosangue that the dealer has in Rosso Portofino and I even heard the sound of the V12 which I liked. Seen in person, the Purosangue is much better than in the photos from any of the angles I look at it. Without a doubt and by far the best designed "SUV" there is.
It was a very well spent morning and I left the dealer feeling comforted.:)

This is false information that has been ignorantly parroted for years, Ferrari doesn't care about wrapping your car, but they do care about copyright infringement which is what the C&D was actually about.

Almost looks like this was done for the sole purpose of pissing off Ferrari. Strange indeed.

Exactly, copyright infringement is what Ferrari alleged also in other cases in which owners used their own logos or emblems in the cars. So what can we say about this logo/emblem that appears in the picture, is it a copyright infringement or not? No matter how many excuses Ferrari tries to make, it is clear that regarding these issues it has double standards.

I think considering the owner of this particular Purosangue different standards apply?

Isn't that Lapo's car? Well you cannot really infringe, when your family owns the brand...

Last year the Purosangue was the winner of the Car Design Award in the Production Cars category. During the award ceremony at the ADI Design Museum in Milan The Driver interviewed the team of designers - led by Flavio Manzoni - from which the Purosangue was born: Mauro Silva (Lead 3D Surface modeler), Angelo Nivola (Head of Interior Design Ferrari), and Federico Acuto (Lead Exterior Designer of the Purosangue).

What are the elements that determined Purosangue's win at the Car Design Award?

Angelo Nivola: with the Purosangue we managed to combine certain proportions of the car that preserve the DNA of the brand, despite the car being different from those we have always had in the range. It has typical Ferrari proportions with a habitability never seen before on a Maranello car, without compromises in terms of ergonomics and performance. It is a one-of-a-kind product that stands out in the class of high-wheeled cars.

Why isn't the Purosangue an SUV?

Federico Acuto: most of the work was done on the proportions. We worked hard to create a very compact cabin, therefore very similar to that of the other models in the range, and this allowed us to have a proportion of muscles that makes it unique, something that is closely linked to the Ferrari DNA.

Andrea Militello: it has the three-dimensionality that distinguishes it inside and out, therefore, compared to the two-dimensional approach of SUVs, a completely different product has been obtained, and this despite the dimensions not being typical of the brand. Basically, a Sport Utility has an imposing nose and higher sections, while the Purosangue has a streamlined bonnet. Furthermore, the driving position and dynamics are that of a sports sedan.

    What makes a Ferrari recognizable?

Angelo Nivola: what distinguishes us is the uniqueness of every single car. We don't tend to aim for the family feeling, that is, taking certain characteristics of language and shape and applying them to each car, but it's a question of sensations given by proportions. The balance of some elements, in harmony, make up an object that is easily recognisable. There is something intrinsic in the object which is enhanced by some passages of the external surfaces.

Andrea Militello: there is a lot of work to interpret the aerodynamic and technical inputs, as well as a symbiosis work between our department and the entire company which allows us to translate what is a target into shape, so that every single technical input is reinterpreted as well as possible. Among other things, in Ferrari the technical constraints can be questioned, always to the advantage of the product. Let's take the Ferrari Purosangue; if we were to imagine dissecting it we would notice that there is no free space: painstaking work has been done everywhere to compact the car as much as possible. The car is sleek, muscular, but with a lot of content under the skin.

You seem to not understand the basics of copyright infringement. Ferrari took action because deadmau5 sold shirts with the Purrari logo which was a ~90% rip off of Ferrari's logo. The picture you posted has an emblem with no similarity to Ferrari's logos and there are zero infringement issues. Its essentially the opposite of what the deadmau5 did, there is no double standard in this case in any way.
