Not correct, there were automatics in 1995. I have orginal factory brochures, I can scan and upload if necessary, OBD / OBD2 came first with the Motronic 5.2. 1993-1996 was with Motronic 2.7= no OBD.

    Cheers!

MY 1995 is not the same as production year or registration year.

MY is usually but not exactly about a year after production. Aka in 1994 you can buy a 1995 MY. It’s not exactly right for winter/spring cars but close enough. For example, my 7/93 production 512TR is a 1995 MY and my 5/98 production 456m is a 1999 MY, but my 4/04 production 575 is a 2004. It’s an American thing…

In many parts of Europe (UK is notorious for this), the year sold becomes the MY. For example, I have seen 1995 production cars sold/titled in 1997 carrying a 1997 MY thereafter.

1995 cars in the US were OBD1.

I have never seen a retail (aka not in testing/development) GTA that was 1995 MY here in the US and I’ve been around since they were new. Here their introduction corresponds with OB2/ motronic 5.2.

    I missed this earlier reply:
US law circa late 80s/early 90s required either automatic seat belts OR driver/passenger airbags with the intent to bridge to only airbags by 1996. Some companies switched very early, some last minute. Lamborghini and Ferrari only switched under threat of being unable to sell cars. Even bigger names like BMW had a tiered phase in of airbags.

I checked my notes as well, there are no known 1995 automatic cars I have any record of, with serial production stating in early 1996. There may be test mule or two but I have not ever seen one.

Love the white, not sold on the single color dash....too much beige/brown personally. But then again I am a sucker for the black dash / different color carpets/seats combos.

It is a steal. Even with the miles. You buy a 456 assuming you can spend $25k right off the bat to sort it, if you want to daily it at least. AND you know somebody who can actually work on your car without screwing it up.
Mine is a 2003, I bought 3.5 years back with around 18k on the clock. I am in it for around $70k over the last three years (in repairs, maintenance and upgrades) about to turn 30k but the thing is perfect inside and out and runs like a bat out of hell compared to when I took delivery

No way, that MOFO is “Mirek Classiche” - if you will (and I will). Those are my own records (awesome) as well as the maintenance records associated with prior ownership. Which amounted to about $30k of nonsense work that I had to learn about and then pay to fix. You would not believe it on an 18k mile car.

I looked at Classiche for a while but dealers nationally were largely unaware of the program exactly as it related to 456models. It was not really expensive from what I learned (it is a process). AND compared to what it cost for me to sort it Classiche would have been way cheaper. Additionally, they rebuild the car exactly as was constructed (that’s the claim) including known flaws like ****ty leaking gaskets and the such (which, in classic valuable cars is of particularly of concern—I get it for originality or whatever).

If I went the Classiche route my car would still overheat no doubt, I could not run my Fabio exhaust and I would walk into other electrical problems, etc.. etc…It made no sense for this guy. I drive the hell out of it.

I prefer the Massini report anyway, way cooler.

    Hi all,

First post (and first Ferrari). Live in Australia - bought a manual 1996 456 GT, subject to inspection. Link below. PPI on Tuesday.

    https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1996-ferrari-456-gt-manual/OAG-AD-22424905

Happy with value as bought below marked price of AUD149k (USD98k) and been fully maintained - same owner for 14 years or so - he went to UK to bring her down under. None of the leather or button issues and mileage relatively low. Full records.

Interested as to whether anyone knows the numbers for 456GT manuals delivered to Australia? Believe only a 2-3 456GTms but could not find number on pre M manuals.

Also any expert views on vehicle, value etc. Was looking for 612 OTO but they are in AUD270-300k range so difficult to see value there.

    Thanks!
