If Marcel is right only 67 in the concours, then count was down by 50%. That should have been obvious looking up the green, were there really 50% less cars than last year? Here is what part of the field looked like last year.

Yeah, I was there last year and despite the drizzly weather, the field was much more crowded and I thought the turnout was one of the best from my trips there.

This year, I’ve only seen a handful of pictures (so far) from sources other than the official pages. The one picture I’ve seen from their FB page, from outside the inner courtyard and onto the golf course portion, there was a 250 Lusso, a 330 GTS, and others - it looks like they really spread the cars out to make the show field look more expansive than it actually probably was. I wasn’t on the ground there this year so I can’t say for sure, but it sure seems like they’re doing just that.

Nobody got any decent pictures of the half dozen Daytona models there; though white with a red interior was interesting.
The orange 1976 512 BB finally got it's trip to Cavallino!

Now that I’ve finally seen some pictures from outside of the courtyard, it does indeed look like overall quality of cars took a hit compared to years past. Even in the more modern section, there were more of the limited run special models (550 Barchetta, 430 Scuderia, etc) and even some of the halo hypercars mixed in.

This year it looks like alot of the “lesser” models and less of the limited run models.

I will admit, I am envious of everyone who got to see 3505GT today. I have been dying to see that car in person.

The full width and length of the main lawn was not used as it had been in years gone by. Additionally a substantial piece of the upper lawn traditionally used by Enzo Era cars (275-330 etc) was set aside for display of new Ferraris. As I understand it the count of judged cars was pumped up by raising the price of displaying a car to a price greater than having it judged.
On a positive note best of show was earned by a car whose restoration was left incomplete by the passing of a friend, David Carte and finished by another good friend John Wittington. It is a 1952 Inter Ghia, 0191EL. Congrats John. I am sure David and Dennis are both very happy.

To clarify, David oversaw the restoration of 0191EL even as he was ill; it was painted before he passed away. David's staff continued on to complete the rub out of the paint and assemble the chrome trim, glass, and essential suspension. John completed the assembly with collaboration from David's staff A superb effort by all in difficult circumstances, and a tribute to David. I recall that the original colors were discovered from a period written description of the colors found.

I think the thread title should be changed to 2024.
    Not 2023 anymore.

I think if someone wanted to talk about 2024 they should have started a new thread. At this point the only possibility is if the mod or I takes the time to split all the posts out.

Just re-title it 2024, no one is going to go back to post #1 (ancient history).

that’s confusing for the 2023 posts. Should just be called Cavallino or whatever if people can’t keep posts in the right year

it's not the mods job, the community flows how the community flows. next it will be users requesting that we spell correct everything, oh wait, they already do.
