765 is the one Mac I would definitely like to own one day. That said, current 720 prices make them very tempting as well.
The 720 is what I’m after right now too. I am also considering the 488, but the continuous price drops of the 720 are almost making it a no brainer. I’m waiting until winter goes away in the Midwest here before I give them a proper drive. I’d like to get a 765 and a 296 one day also!
The Porsche Turbo S is such an awesome car... super fast, but you can also take it to the track...road course track not drag racing... and run it all day with no brake or power issues, drive home and go to dinner in it.
You know how people have guilty pleasures, say, like enjoying the bang Creed or something? I really ****ing like the Tecnica and I don’t know why people don’t love it as much as I do but I’m afraid to ask. It seems like it tracks well enough (it’s no 720 or Porsche GT, but that’s okay), and on the street it’s everything you could ever ask for. They’ve fixed all the issues from what I’ve seen. I am also a ******* so what do I know
I loved my 992 Turbo S. Not as much as any of my Ferraris, but I’d argue it’s the best car you can buy with a MSRP under $250k.
Personal experience? 7k miles in my 992 TTS I can say unequivocally, amazing car, in theory. On paper. Statistically. But I never gelled with it. Felt no emotion for it. Dynamically I never felt at one with it and yes It’s boring.
I just didn’t. I respected it. But didn’t love it. I like my cayenne turbo GT much more than the 992 TTS. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have two single posts lifts they work fantastic and barely take up much room at all. About 7 feet of clearance underneath as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rennlist had me convinced on a four post lift for my garage, but why not go with the single post lift like you have? Like you say, it barely takes up any space and it clearly does the job for the size cars we are putting on it.
More than enough! Black wheel gang looks beautiful by the way. Some on maclife have recently called us not classy hahaha but it’s the way to go
Yes... I understand what you're saying. However we all prefer and like different things with cars. While i feel my ferrari provides more emotion driving around in I will say I'm believing more and more I prefer a car I can have fun with on the street ..but i'm very tame in the street and i really prefer doing some track events more than a sexy car in the garage. A Turbo S or GT3 ultimately might be better for me. I miss my Porsches... I can't have both
Without knowing anything, why would your feelings towards cars not be great for something like a Tecnica? I’m trying to wrap my head about why more forum guys don’t love them. Big car reviewers seemed too, but outside of the Lamborghini forums I don’t see the usual suspects posting about them. Really emotional car, seems to drive great, can be tracked occasionally, etc. I feel like I’m missing something really obvious (keep in mind I’m a moron)
something that's nice about the turbo s is you don't get that much attention on the roads, lambos are a complete ball ache for this - especially if you are a reserved person
I’ll also add, recently got picked up by a friend in his evo spyder at airport. Zero storage, insanely crammed interior. Ingress and egress is laughable. Id never buy one. It’s not an enjoyable experience for a reasonably sized person. You have to really love attention to put up with the quirks. On another note. I sat inside a performante maybe 3 months ago at Bentley dealer by my house. Far tighter than the evo, somehow! Honestly anyone taller than 5’9, no chance you can comfortably drive a performante. I’m 6’3 215. Steering wheel was resting on my thighs. Just shocking for a modern car. I also preferred the performante interior styling to the evo. I think it will age better without the center screen.
I appreciate your first hand insight my man! The interior storage has been discussed on the videos so I was aware of that (no cup holders for example), but a lot of the reviewers are big men and have not mentioned being crammed in the Tecnica. Catchpole did mention the seats were improved and I wonder if that plays a factor? Mat from Carwow also showed how much adjustment the wheel can do so maybe that helps also. In any case, there’s no question it’s not an airport car in any facet haha.
I'm just a normal guy. 6'0, 185. I'm going to drive one this weekend so I will report back. What I really want to find out for myself is if that NA 5.2L V10 is exciting enough to make it a car to get. I mean there are people here who refuse to get rid of (or in some cases do get rid of and regret doing so) their 458 because of the NA V8. That is, despite the obvious upgrades you could find even in the 488 compared to it in terms of performance, chassis, steering, brakes, etc. And the 488 is a great car but that is not the leader either if you can understand what I am saying.
For me personally I do not fit in a Hurricane. All depends on how the buyer is going to use the car and what they want for a car of this type. Some go for looks, some status, some go for pure performance and race heritage and so on.
Let us know your honest thoughts. Back in 2019 when I was car shopping I tried out a 458 and 488. The 458 sounds great but the overall drive, fit, finish, and looks plus the warranty that came with the 488 sold it for me. I do get complements all the time on my 488 and it's sound too. Stock exhaust just unplugged the exhaust valves.
I will definitely let you know my honest thoughts. I want to try and squeeze in a drive with a 488 on Saturday also, but I have to try and schedule that too. Your points about the 488's improvements over the 458 are exactly how I imagine it being as well, yet, there are people who have tried the 488 and went right back to the 458 for the engine. There is a thread in the 458/488/F8 subforums with people who said this recently. My uneducated thought is that somehow the Tecnica can blend the NA V10 sound with performance, fit, finish and drive. We will see
