I can't believe these people at Ferrari are so stupid, Elton brings absolutely nothing to the table, except tons of problems. He's not known for being a good car developer, he acts like a diva, i can't understand what they saw...a publucity stunt? what for? just to **** with mercedes? It's just ridiculous, and they risk upseting Charles...i just can't figure it out...but hey, it's Ferrari, expect the unexpected right!

As much as I like Hamilton and Ferrari this move makes no sense to me. Hamilton is in the twilight of his career and Ferrari has only ever been successful when there has been an autocratic leadership structure. Other drivers (Prost, Alonso, Vettel, etc) have tried to battle this at their peril and Hamilton will not fare any better.

As others have said this whole thing feels like Toto and Mercedes were done with Lewis and have moved on. Ferrari may have been Lewis' only option to stay in F1 in the limelight.

That is uncertain, what we know for sure is that the results beat the consensus estimate and the future earnings growth provided by the CEO is very bullish so the majority (at least 95%) of the jump is coming from that!

... but the valuation IS based on the sales of apparel and merchandise (aka the "brand") ;)

Unfortunately, the off-season these days is easily outpacing the actual racing season.

Sure, the run-up to 2025 may be exciting, but the 2025 season will likely be yet another RB nothing-burger

I dont want to debate :), but I can tell you that I am working in the financial industry for more than 10 years, and also actively investing, so let me tell you that 95% of Ferrari revenue and profit is coming from the car sales, the market value jump is equal to 6 billion USD, tehre is no amount of Hamilton merchandise taht can jsutify this. Lets celebrate both event, I am really looking forward for next year!.

I suspect there will be a lot of confused emotions in this forum. I never said anything terrible about Sir Hamilton, especially here. It's a great thing I now don't have to be contend with an emotional crossing of swords, given the topics often mentioned - it will be fascinating to observe how the cognitive dissonance plays out, I assume, in the most awkward of ways.

Your data is flawed (based on what i've heard).

Ferrari generates more revenue on apparel and merchandise, worldwide, than car sales.

10K cars at an average price of $300K (worldwide)
    <vs>
10M shirts, jackets, mugs, models, legos at $300 (worldwide)

For every person, worldwide, who owns a Ferrari ... are there a thousand people who own Ferrari merchandise (including Ferrari-licensed merchandise)? Yep, I can see merchandising revenue outpacing car revenue quite easily.

This is what y'all get for not having a proper silly season in 2023... skipping straight to the 2024 one and haven't even had the first 2024 race.

No. He has nothing to offer the Scuderia. It’s an unnecessary disruption to a developing team.

Aren’t we two months too early for this? I must say that I think this is a terrible decision by Ferrari. At this point in time, I think Hamilton is way past his prime as he is going to be 40 y/o by 2025, especially if the Ferrari isn’t competitive enough. To me, this has the disastrous 1992 season written all over it when Prost got so frustrated with the team and was eventually ousted at Ferrari.

What you "heard" and what is provided by Ferrari in the official income statements and earnings call. I stop here and will not respond further.

There is a lot of reason to think that the announcement was timed along with their quarterly earnings release. Not the only factor. But a factor for sure.

    Agreed!

He did a pretty good job of getting out of McLaren at the right time and jumping onto a ship that nobody thought was championship bound!

    They will also need:
    A grate car
    Great strategy
    A grate race engineer

Like all of sports, its never just 1 person.

I'm going to say it - Ferrari is evolving into more of a lifestyle brand. The racing isn't as important, the road cars aren't as important - now they're a publicly traded company so it's all about juicing that stock price for all it's worth. You can see it in the emphasis on (what they call) fashion products, accessories, making a SUV, they no longer make the most exciting to drive cars on the road, they haven't won a F1 title since 2007. We're all diehard racing fans here - myself included - and want to see them win. But the focus of Ferrari as a company has changed. It was said above this is likely about merging two brands. And yeah this news isn't all that's juicing the stock today but it sure isn't hurting it either. Does anyone even remember now that Andretti's F1 application was declined? It's all anyone is talking about. Whatever astronomical sum this costs in new contracts and breaking old ones is already paid for in multiples just in the bounce today. And IF Ferrari/LH manage to secure a title from it then so much the better. There's literally no downside for Ferrari themselves in doing this.
