I've bought this book, it's written in Italian with a transcription in English in the back of the book. Many pictures and text of the development of the car and the races towards Le Mans (and Le Mans itself ofcourse). I could buy it with a discount, otherwise i hadn't.

I bought my copies brand new ages ago, no white sheets inbetween. Never had any issues when opening pages. It has to do with the environment, the humidty in your library, heat/dry/cold/wet/humid.

What’s new for bookies from Retromobile?
Not much, other than Horton’s (small booth, high prices for some select items: €250k for original drawings of McLaren F1!) and Gilena, only some local dealers. 550 Prodrive set is apparently not selling well, and now offered by other bookdealers.

Yes I saw some interesting McLaren F1 items on Hortons and was able to buy a beautiful brochure at a sensible price. My wife would dispute the meaning of sensible!

Hortons had the Maserati 450S book by Baumer & Blachette, just out. Only had time to leaf through it briefly, looked great.

Looked good, but I think that €190,- is quite a steep price. Everything is inflated.

No doubt. Would it be wrong to conclude that Max, Simon, et al, find the life of flittering about selling cars in high-rent venues, all while collecting $XX-XXXk commissions, to be a far more "agreeable" way of living?

Then why not offer an E-book version as well? There is quite a number of books I like but will not buy because (1) too expensive and (2) my library of "real" books is already overflowing.

I have said for ages e-books are the way to go for many when

    1. the book is a limited edition and/ or sold out
    2. people have limited shelf space
    3. you can take the book anywhere to read it
    4. they cost far less then a physical book to own

In this world of NFT’s, what if one could obtain the key to the e-book version of an expensive, exclusive book when purchasing the physical book? Then one would have the physical book, as well as the e-version which could be accessed anywhere by the book owner. If the access key was secured to the book owner then the exclusivity of the book could also be somewhat protected? Just a naive thought..

Especially these both work out there arses and are workaholics and doing this longterm very passionated
and professional! The outspoke from Max that a book making a lot of work doesn’t mean classic cars are an easy job,
classic cars are nothing than hard work! And we could be happy that car passionate guys like Max and Simon
doing a book beside the business because they doing it like their car business, full throttle!
Can’t wait for their next one, i guess it will be a Kidston one… ;)

Me too. I have never bought an eBook and will hopefully never have to buy one.

We had the discussion about Limited Editions before but If they are sold out they are sold out. No later reprinting or eBooks. Sorry. Buy a second hand copy... And If your bookshelf is to small sell some books you dont read anymore so other can read them.

I did suggest that to Simon back in 2020 but there was no interest, .
We did that with my Maserati the Citroen years 1968-1975 (160000 words, 510 pages, premiered at Retromobile 2013) the standard version sold out very quickly, the deluxe version comes with ALSO a digital version, a credit card shaped USB key -see bottom left of photo below- which you can have in your laptop and take anywhere with you. I suggested to Simon he do the same for the Miura book but he wasn't keen, up to him.

Horses for courses but my take is that these are beautiful books and an ebook is a totally different commodity. For sure the content is the same but a book is a different proposition. Different experience. Hey, I like vinyl!

When purchasing a book where there is a choice between the real book and the e-version, I feel that the actual book has so much more value than an e-book even though the e-book is much less expensive. So I buy the actual book, but often end up buying the e-book version as well because it is so much more convenient to be able to access the book anytime, anywhere from my iPad.
