I wish. That would have to mean Ferrari found huge gains in power that locks it in until 2025 and beyond.
Ferrari market cap surges $7 billion amid Hamilton F1 bombshell Ferrari’s share price soared more than 10% to hit a new record high on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday as news of Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 move broke.
I think Hamilton was a large chunk of the price increase but it was also because of Ferrari's balance sheet due to quarterly earnings which was very good.
Carlos Sainz has been tipped as a strong contender to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes in what would be a straight swap, a history of talks with the team and a good relationship with boss Toto Wolff reported by leading Formula 1 correspondent Lawrence Barretto. Sources say Sainz has a good relationship with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and there have been multiple conversations between his management team and the Silver Arrows over the last few years. “The equivalent of a straight swap would make sense for both parties. “Mercedes get a super consistent driver who scores well and whose feedback has been highly-rated by every team he’s ever driven for in F1 – a key tool for a team that has struggled with performance in recent years. “He has also got on well with every team mate – and there’s no reason to believe that won’t continue with Russell. “For Sainz, he’ll bounce from one race-contending team to another – and one that has pedigree of winning world championships at a relentless rate in recent times. “He’ll back himself to perform well against Russell and deliver a run of podiums and wins if the car is up to scratch.”
--Rumours have swirled for years over Formula 1’s most successful driver in Hamilton joining the series’ most successful team Ferrari, though until now it had been merely talk, the prospect seemingly having been taken off the table for the foreseeable future when Hamilton signed a new Mercedes deal during the 2023 campaign. However, Hamilton has confirmed his impending exit before the 2024 campaign even got underway, RacingNews365.com reporting that Serra, who is set to join Ferrari in 2025 after exiting the Mercedes performance director role, was a key reason for why Hamilton is also heading to Ferrari. ‘Trusted technical sources’ informed the publication that Serra and Hamilton were aligned on their disgruntlement with the Mercedes concept in the ground effect era, Serra’s opinion that Mercedes’ very long wheelbase and floor were not the way to go clashing with the view of former technical director Mike Elliott and his team. As well as Serra and Hamilton arriving, they report that Serra will also be bringing a cluster of Mercedes technicians with him to Ferrari.
Ideally, that would be the best solution for both parties. Sainz would join another top team, and a strong organisation to be alongside Russell. Mercedes would get a "no fuss" experienced driver at a fraction of the price of Hamilton. I hope it works.

Some teams have a relatively satisfactory technical team in relation to their resources. Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, Aston Martin are not wanting on that subject.
Ferrari made a phenomenal investment LH near the end of his career. They obviously expect improved results from him. I wonder if he will also be expected to mentor CL to become a world champion?
Leclerc has had mentoring from Vettel, also he is a seasoned driver now, sure Sir Lewis Hamilton can still add value but at the end of the day Leclerc has to become more consistent.
Villeneuve doubts Sainz will play the team game at Ferrari https://f1i.com/news/498825-villeneuve-doubts-sainz-will-play-the-team-game-at-ferrari.html
As usual Jacques is talking too much nonsense. I wrote an email to French television asking to replace him with Grosjean. A smarter guy in the end.
https://www.planetf1.com/news/piero-ferrari-lewis-hamilton-threat-charles-leclerc-title-future Piero Ferrari: Charles Leclerc is a Champion of the future Vice chairman, board member of Ferrari, and a son of company founder Enzo, Piero Ferrari opened up on the arrival of Hamilton to Maranello in an extensive interview with Italian journalist Leo Turrini. In the interview, Ferrari revealed Hamilton had ‘joked’ about joining the Scuderia years ago, when he visited Maranello to pick up his LaFerrari – Hamilton saying that if Ferrari had waited 12 months instead of renewing with Sebastian Vettel, he would have been open to a switch. Ferrari said he was “personally very happy” about Hamilton’s arrival, saying the seven-time World Champion is a “perfect match” for Ferrari’s mystique and that him switching to Ferrari in a bid to emulate Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher by arriving at Ferrari as an existing World Champion to win another title is an “auspicious moment”. But, inevitably, the question of how Hamilton will fit into the dynamic of a team that has focused on Leclerc in recent years, having brought him up into Formula 1 through their driver programme, arose. Ferrari explained how he sees the pairing work: “Charles is the champion of the future, Ferrari believes in him and has proved it, I think. Hamilton is Hamilton. I don’t see why they should fight.” Giancarlo Minardi points out ‘oddity in the affair’ of Lewis Hamilton signing Turrini also spoke with legend of Italian motorsport, Giancarlo Minardi, who said that he doubts whether Hamilton’s arrival will make any difference in terms of helping Ferrari to a title. “We have to ask ourselves: in all these years has Ferrari lost because of who was driving it?” Minardi questioned. “[The team] hasn’t been without a title for a generation because of who was behind the wheel’. It follows that Hamilton is no guarantee of success. Just as Vettel was not. “In F1 it is fundamental to have a winning car. You don’t build a house from the roof up, but from the foundations.” Minardi also said that he would have kept Sainz, rather than signing Hamilton, and said Leclerc will likely be consoling himself about the threat of Hamilton by looking at his bank account. But, with Leclerc being confirmed on a new deal just a few days before the Hamilton switch became known, Minardi said he found that an “oddity in the affair”: “Look, they had extended his contract saying they were betting everything on him. “A week goes by and they put a Myth like Hamilton next to him…”
Let's see what happens in these 3 years Piero "Landi" Ferrari. Leclerc getting paid $38 million. Lewis getting paid $100 million.
Okay, but is Hamilton seven times the driver Leclerc is, or even three times, for that matter? That's not even including the money spent on Hamilton's side projects. I'm willing to bet Ferrari wouldn't be the only team to throw almost Max money at Leclerc to sign. Him, Norris, and Piastri are the three biggest young names in the sport since George Russell has fallen off.
Well, for me the only thing that matters is that the current champion is Verstappen. Hamilton's 7 championships are gone. You know, the old you're worth as much as your last race.
Count me as a fan, but so did Vettel! For what ever reason, he never rose to the same levels while at RBR. Let's hope LH mentors CL the way FA seemed to mentor LS last year.
Clear that Elkann and Ferrari board and share holders are clearly ok and the stock shows it. Fans might not be as supportive but the numbers win again. The question is Charles worth double what Sainz makes? Those numbers do not look as supportive.
