Anyone else appreciating the irony of this bloke telling members to stop acting like teenagers while calling them “MFR’s?”

Has it come to this? Am I the only person hears this ridiculous statement? What team in history is not interested in winning? Show me a race where a team did not want to win the race? Show me past video footage of a driver leading a race and the team told him to slow down and let another team win. This has not ever happened in history. Find evidence that a team making their car less competitive on purpose. Here is a picture of Sainz winning last year. You can see evidence that the team is "interested" in winning.

Honestly, the way some of you are carrying on about this is pitiful.

I can see both sides. Toto and Mercedes feel that Hamilton is too old and his winning days are behind him, and were unwilling to give him more than one or two seasons. Hamilton believes he can be like Scott Dixon and race competitively into his 40's, and Ferrari and Vasseur believe the same.

Maybe Hamilton struggles with Ferrari, trashes their car like he did at Mercedes, and they show him the door fast. But maybe, just maybe, Hamilton digs deep within himself and shows us some of that earlier magic, and proves he's still capable of winning races, and Mercedes end up looking stupid.

There are logical reasons for either scenario to unfold, but lets not go overboard with hysteria.

Hamilton is a great driver. I don’t understand all the negativity in this thread. Even if he is lucky to have had a competitive car for most of his career, who gives a ****. Hope is luck brings Ferrari another championship. God knows 2024 is not going to be it (hope im wrong).

Mainly depends I guess on how competitive Ferrari will be in 2025 and 2026.
With aging he looks like a Alonso kind of racer.
    He’s deeply addict to racing.
I am pretty sure with a competitive car he will be a threat again.

Guess we should all return to this comment when Ferrari loses the WDC because Charles and Lewis were too busy taking points of each other.

    Exactly !
Just when Fred Vasseur was hinting that Ferrari was going to make Charles Leclerc its leading driver , suddenly this.
I don't know if this was his idea , or if it was imposed on him, but it's a departure from the plan.
In view of the sums involved, I suspect the decision comes from higher up, John Elkann probably.

Elkan drove this personally as he did the recruitment of Vasseur. Any issues with how this is to be implemented will be on Elkan. It is certain how this is implemented will be with Vasseur and any adjustments from Elkan. I sense that Elkan has decided to be personally involved now. The driver pairing was not an issue with Ferrari at all. Vasseur was not leaning on either drive to be #1 and would do so as the situation became apparent. Should we at all be surprised that the executive level of Ferrari has now been playing in direct hiring. I am not at all. We hope for change yet the team continues to be at the mercy of those with no real racing experience.

Ferrari - The Luxury Brand. 7BIl$ stock price increase this week alone. The Corporate Ferrari is alive. The F1 team is the toy of the month.

    --
Ferrari executive chairman John Elkann was reportedly the “driving force” behind the Italian outfit’s sensational coup to lure Lewis Hamilton to Maranello.

According to Sky Sports, many months of behind-the-scenes maneuvering and courting by Elkann culminated in Thursday’s bombshell announcement that Hamilton will don the iconic red in 2025.

“My understanding is that this courtship [between Ferrari and Hamilton] has been going on for some months,” commented Sky Sports’ Craig Slater.

“It’s not a sudden thing. John Elkann, the president and a very heavy-hitter, is very much at the centre of it and the driving force.

“Team principal Fred Vasseur is someone Lewis knows from the junior days so there’s no friction there.

“It’s not like the chairman has signed someone over the manager’s back, that you sometimes get in football! This isn’t like that.”--

    You may be right!

    Translation

II Corriere dello Sport today, Fulvio Solms writes that Hamilton's arrival at Ferrari was certainly not welcomed with a toast from Charles Leclerc and his entourage. "If Leclerc stays ahead of him he will be a hero. If he keeps up with him, his reputation as the predestined will tarnish. The Monegasque and his clan were disappointed and shocked by Ferrari's decision, which at the time of the extension a week ago did not imagine what was about to happen."
