Battery Swap Help

Basic swap. Just be careful of the fenders when you drag it out of that deep hole where it lives.

 

single fronnt clamp with socket tool is easy, no biggie

Mine had the OEM cover but missing bouth knurled nuts and 1/2" outside snap ring clip.
ferrariparts exchange sold me the 3 knurls nuts (1 is extra, so clever) and Lowes Hardwares has 1.2" outside snap ring clip

The prior owner had an Interstate battery and at the body below, there was a bit of surface rust. I brushed then Krylon aerosol paint the area.
I choose the 34 AGM 740CCA battery as it is seeled and will not cause this rust again. It has higher rating than the Interstate and apparently more discharge depth.
bad news is $250

Also added wire ctek maintainer as I respect the full battery and it lasts years

Make sure the posts are in the same direction otherwise the neg cable won’t reach

 

Watch your back! - It's a long lean over, and a deep drop, with a lot of weight in the battery acting as leverage against your back!

 

Ive been using a gell cell , Optima, for several years now. I think its the best battery out there. You should check them out.

FWIW, I've been using Shorai Lithium-iron batteries in motorcycles since 2008. Often thought about a lithium for the 328 but the cost puts me off. But every time I lift that conventional battery out I think again about that again!
