Holy crap that's a lot. The OTO's have gone up tremendously over the last 2 years here (and subsequently back down at least a little) but nothing like that.
I'm not one for flashy full-thread announcements, but I'm the buyer of the Bobileff car. Money is sent, should arrive in about 6 weeks between cleaning up a few things and just about the longest diagonal cross-country drive that's physically possible. I unsubscribed from all my BAT and C&B listing notification emails today. And that is the best feeling I've had in 4 years of searching. @CarloR ... thank you. You will have my unequivocal endorsement wherever you need it. Unless the car catches fire when I first start it.
No doubt on the "about time"! Congrats! The delayed gratification of the extended hunt is absolutely something I can understand.....for me it was bittersweet each time the hunt has been over. For me the real calming thing was when the garage/collection got to the point where I was finally "pleased AND satisfied" in that I really don't yearn for another....to quote monty python....i couldn't eat another bite.....but..... ;-) When you get it, please start an owner thread with photos. Enjoy in good health -- Eric
I think my dream checklist was something like: - Long-term caretaker selling the car... this one was something like 20 years for the last owner; it's a 2-owner car - Properly maintained in strong running order (daily driver = yup) - Higher mileage to save a few shekels (definitely had that) - Not black interior (check) - Dark red/blue/green (check) I had basically given up on trying to find this unicorn, and the money on the lower mileage cars that have been available as of late became worth more to me as cash than the experience would be as a car. But as I told someone else, much like my first girlfriend, as soon as I gave up she fell in my lap (ha ha). The search has been long and agonizing and in many instances incredibly unlucky, and I'm sure I'd have been happy with any of those cars. But this is the one I waited for. I have no doubt and no regrets (OK, maybe "minimal regrets").
It's a labor of love, one that will reward you if you invest properly into the 'relationship.' The Bobilieff car is beautiful, again congratulations, great thing you got the gated too. No, it's not overrated. Any true car enthusiast needs to experience the transcendent click/clack of a Ferrari gated before they leave this world.
Remind us what state you live in? Florida so you can enjoy year round? Your post seems like the Northeast?
Worth the gamble given the color. I'm not sure I'd have taken the plunge for like argento/nero given that decisions had to be made quickly (read: no PPI) and regardless of my level of self-assurance it does have some mileage. I'm in CT. What was the giveaway? No "hella" or "y'all"? I am near a gorgeous salt marsh that I am sure you'll see soon enough. Once we're in to "high spring." Not sure March counts when it comes off the hauler.
HOLY HELL— that is throw away money at $39k. I was watching and not at the end because at that price I would have fought my wife’s attorney. Matching color 456 and 550’s is stupid but so am I…..
Agreed, I hope the buyer brings it back up to spec and has no illusions about doing so. That interior combo with those maroon carpets was really cool & unique, likely 1 of 1.
This is how “sick” I am….. This little building in the Santa Cruz mountains is maybe a 20 minute drive from my house and is on a great drivers road. The price just dropped this week. Ceiling too low for lifts and I’d have to cut a door in the back of the building but I could put my race cars and the 550 and motorcycles here and it would be an awesome man cave…. could park my big tow rig out back under the extended cover…. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/5980-Ca-9-Felton-CA/30822595/ it’s immediately adjacent to an “off brand” gas station so it has environmental exposure but put it in an bankruptcy remote entity?
I personally can’t stand brown dashboards and REALLY can’t stand brown steering wheels. This is a good example of why. I had looked at masers with brown steering wheels and budgeted in a swap whenever I saw them.
I liked it! Congrats on the buy - please start a thread for it when you get it, as a fellow Grigio Ingrid guy I’m interested to follow along.
Congrats! Great crowd on here, plenty of knowledge and lots of us using our cars regularly, so any problems or updates can help addressing. Hope you enjoy it
