Nice car , obviously a completely different “style language” from 812 . I think in the feature there will be estimators of 812 and estimators of f167…

 

Warning.
What is off putting, all new cars built 2024 on in Europe will have to have cameras and radar that will pick up the speed road signs and warn you are entering a slower zone, this year you can turn it off, but there is talk from next year it might not be possible.

In the future they might enable it to slow the car down to the speed limit according to Top Gear.

Harry has been a motoring journalist for many years and he is saying he will not buy any new car!!

Watch from 9.50 minutes on, you will notice, even though he has turned it off something keeps setting off a warning noise!

Yes it is a disaster if they EU doesn't back away from this. Car tech is nowhere near ready for this to be mandatory, multiple cars I've had over the years tells me that this is dangerous and I always turn it off if any car I get has it. I believe as F167 will be homologated this year it will be fine for its entire production run because it's not the year the car is manufactured but the year the car is homologated which counts.

 

Hi Grant, this stopped me buying a new car from 2022, it was quite well known end of 2021 that this was coming, but with switching off an option. Most 2022 cars produced in Europe have this fitted, but the regulation of turning it on got delayed to 2024. However, potentially that you can’t turn it off due to insurance companies knowing you turned it off is probably coming. However, don’t think this applies to USA, just can’t see it implemented there. Hopefully it gets pushed back again but probably too much smoke without fire..

 

Post I made on the topic over on Pistonheads a while ago below. In short, this technology is dangerous and yet another method of increasing costs/weight of cars unecessarily:

Just read the article and of course came straight to ph to discuss. Complete disaster. Currently have an 2018 68 plate A8 that is loaded with what I can only assume is the precursor to a lot of this tech and it's awful. Needs to be huge improvements before it's remotely viable.

1. Semi-regularly emergency braking kicks in. I can actually induce it somewhat on certain sections of road I drive regularly where the road turns at the top of a crest so if someone is walking on the pavement where the turn is the car thinks you're going to crash into the pedestrian and slams the brakes. Had several people behind me need to take corrective action and also emergency brake to not slam into me resulting in honking etc and then the car won't speed up for a couple of seconds. Have had Audi turn the sensitivity down but can't be disabled and still does it

2. Car regularly tries to nudge me into cyclists when overtaking them as it tracks the street lines and tries to go back into the lane even though I indicated.

3. Car regularly reads the wrong speed limit signs, particularly in built up dual carriageway sections like the A3 closer to London where it's 50 but there are regularly signs for 30 at exit junctions. When auto speed limiter is on it has slowed down rapidly to 30 on these 50mph sections of road.

4. Regularly misses smaller speed limit signs out where I live so keeps me at 30 even when I've entered a 40. Not so much a safety hazard but annoying nonetheless.

5. More of an Audi complaint really but the car login with app got reset after a service and they had to factory reset the entire car which then meant I spent weeks disabling all the s Image Unavailable, Please Login tty settings as much as possible again.

Handing it back in October and can't wait for the Roma to arrive (which incidentally I've ordered without a single "smart" function).

Will try to get several cars without these awful functions before they are mandatory and can't be disabled to last as long as possible before I need to buy one of these travesties.

 

Digital IDs are next.... we will soon be like microchipped cattle, tracked and controlled. what a wonderful future awaits

 

Unfortunately you are right - its totally F^^&'d - Anonymity will be the most prized asset in this dystopian future

 

Economically it is going to be interesting.

While back in 2017/18 at launch that V12 was top of the line, now it is likely to be behind a SF90 and a 296 GTB. Also the coming electric Ferrari - if it is a sports car and not a FUV - will top it performance wise, otherwise with the competition already in the market it would be pointless to launch it.

Now the last of the last of the last V12 engines with let's say 40 hp more will command around EUR 550k to 600k if you order it with wheels and a steering wheel - I wouldn't think it is below a Purosange price-wise. If I hand over my 812 (early model, pre-GPF) to the dealer they'll give me 270k max - so over the coming years there will not be much more depreciation. So 300k on top for a newer car where the old ones have stopped depreciating. Meh...

I want the latest, fastest and best looking Ferrari. Not sure how far a purely non-electric V12 will get me there apart from the looks. Even the new Lamborghini V12 comes with hybrid support.

 

Same boat as you. Have expressed my interest in the new car, but if I don’t like it, I will keep my F12 and have at least $300k for maintenance.

 

It’s even in one of my favorite colors!

Killer app for F167 will be looks, suspension and agility compared to F12 and 812

 

Likely $489k usd base price
$575k most cars with decent options
$700k for TM cars

 

This is happening in the EU and it is from mid 2022+ in the cars and the worry is they can force you to have it on always.

I think the Ferraris built since then have the systems in them for all markets and it’s a question of market regulations.

agreed. I think it’s a new design direction for Ferrari, and I can’t wait for it to trickle down into normal production models.

 

As an aside, I believe the first full electric Ferrari will be a cab forward sports car of a 488 esque size with approximately 1,000 hp and a base price of roughly $450k usd.
