I LOVE the CS TCU upgrade, but the one thing that really annoys me is the F1 pump will only cycle for a few seconds after opening the door. Once the ignition is turned on it then runs for another 10-12 seconds before it will let you start the car. I have heard of this happening with some of you. Is there any way to make the CS TCU work the way the original TCU did? as in turn the F1 pump on as you are opening the door of the car, and run until adequate pressure is attained?

It might depend on if you simply installed the CS TCU or also did get the ECU programed to match your setup.

When I get a CS TCU I will also get the @360trev Tune probably with assistance from @sammyf

Do you have a Tune on the Car to match the updated TCU?

i only currently have the CS TCU and not the Trev360 tune. planning to get it one day, but the wife would only approve one or the other initially.

OK so based on above replies my theory is confirmed :) You can use the CS TCU on its own but its much better to use it with a @360trev Tune to match.

My car came with the CS TCU from the previous owner. Pump ran for 4 seconds upon opening door, and 10-15 seconds after turning on key. I ended up replacing the accumulator, and pump then ran for 8-10 seconds.
2 years later, I got the Trev 360 tune (best money ever). Pump behavior has not changed. 4 seconds upon opening, 8-10 seconds when keyed on. This is on the first cold start of the day. Subsequent starts will depend on how long the car has sat in between runs.

maybe thats my problem, but ive read others have had the same issue
yep, thats exactly what mine does. With the original 99 model TCU, it ran until it was up to pressure upon opening the door. Wishing i could get that behaviour back. Wonder why some does that and some does not?

Perhaps because every opening of the door does not lead to a starting of the car, it’s unnecessary to fully prime the pump in the event that the car is not about to be started? Just a guess.

I thought someone posted that once they replaced their Collector then the Pump did run longer? Seems counterintuitive to me though...

My actual CS behaves as you describe. Open door, pump runs for a few seconds. Ignition on, pump runs longer.

Never really bothered me. I always wait a few seconds for the various systems to power on properly, CHECK OK, adjust seat and seatbelt before starting the engine anyway.

Interesting. Sounds coincidental. A fresh accumulator shouldn’t make it run longer…

Actually a bad accumulator is evident when it runs for one second every cycle ..

So what you are saying is if the first time on a given day you open the Door and the Pump runs for only about a second that is a sign the Accumulator is bad?

No sorry for any confusion ..I am saying if the pump runs with key on for a second every cycle ..that is usually an indication of a bad accumulator

I was responding to @Jaymac post

He was stating that a new accumulator shouldn't make it run longer and was saying the total opposite
