Ironically, one can say the modern Ferrari is actually going back to its roots………..but not for the better. sic “you’re buying an engine, the body is free….” Well, let’s be honest here some of those cars back in the day were downright ugly as ****, awkward as best so the current lineup fits. Same thing today you’re getting all the bells and whistles of a magnificent powertrain with a 2 bagger body even a mom can’t love…….. The biggest difference though is that yesteryear there weren’t that many road going race cars one could buy to fund the race team. Now one can just crank up the boost in any ol’ ricer and outrun anything……… Now, exotics are a dime a dozen and when one speaks of spending upwards of half a million dollars on a car, that biich better be beautiful…….. And the current lineup and design path is FUGLY. I can talk about front ends that are even uglier than a McLaren and design copies that look like bloated copies on the rag (shame you can’t stick a pin in it and release some air) and crazy glued game controllers on the dash and an utterly useless station wagon with no utility……I mean even first generation Panameras are laughing………..so the cars are too big and the station wagon too small….hmmm….what does that say about clarity of vision……) A little hyperbole, though sadly it runs true……… No, y’all can pay Hamilton’s salary. ps Don’t read any hate in my cynicism after all it puts a smirk on my face as I shake my head…….again, in disappointment. Just glad my car journey is near complete. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
@Almost Interesting What are the different reasons ? The Ferraris I see parked all year round in front of the Casino and Hotel de Paris in Monaco? those who buy a 1000 hp SF 90 and fail to use 400 of them properly... Let's be clear, Ferrari's new luxury products today correspond to a ratio of 20% enthusiast and 80% poser
I was just responding to your comment that people who like the direction of the newer cars can’t be enthusiasts. There are many reasons to be enjoy cars. One of them can be the tech and the gobs of HP and because the car looks pretty at the casino. To clarify my position, I don’t particularly like the SF90 for me. I find it too digital as well but I can’t say just because some else does they’re not an enthusiast as though somehow what they like is lesser than what I like. I say why not let people love whatever they want in a car for whatever reason? It’s the different perspectives and opinions that make talking and learning about them more fun [emoji851] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
BTW, as someone that’s done some pro racing in a previous life I can say it is possible to use every last hp (and still want more). Even in an SF 90 [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Maybe Ferrari should rip out a page from the Dodge/Chrysler play book: Steel crate engines but in this case with the frame and drivetrain and let the buyer screw up the bodywork and interior. Let’s face it- there are a limited number of design cues a designer can do that is new and still appeal to the buyer. Porsche decided a long time ago it hit a home run with the 911 and has used that design ethos for all its cars. They all look like Porsches. McLaren has done the same although their design is futuristic but not timeless (IMHO). Ditto AM. Ditto Lambo. Can’t say the same for Ferrari- it’s always been home runs and strikeouts- never sticking to the same design. The Roma looks like it from a completely different car company (I won’t comment on whether I like it or not). The SF90 and 296 are similar but the V12s are completely different. They hit home runs with LaF, SP3, TDF TR, F40 and BB but none of those have carried over to the regular production V12s. Shame on them for the lost opportunity Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Out of 13,000 customers, I am not sure there are more than 50 professional pilots...So you're a tiny minority . Of course, everyone buys what they want, but as soon as a product has been transformed so much that it no longer carries any DNA from the original, it is another product... and if Ferrari were to take an honest approach and completely change the graphics of the badge, by putting a green background instead of yellow for example
And you KNOW Hamilton will bring LGBTQ symbology to the Scuderia, readily accepted as corporate DEI credits... I digress. Image Unavailable, Please Login

There is no rear Lamborghini, or else the dealership has gone a little further towards Sant'agata bolognese !
lol ok when it comes to Apple I should have said lifeless / lack of personality I was a little trigger happy with soulless last nite
Interesting to see if this goes anywhere. https://carbuzz.com/news/new-ferrari-cockpit-lets-you-switch-between-lhd-rhd-and-central-seating-as-you-please
Enzo did say the best Ferrari is the next one. Ferrari does have a different view than say, Porsche which prefers constant iteration over the same design. Maybe the consequence of such a view is they try things, take risks, and aren’t afraid to do something completely different than before. That’ll mean some flops and some wins but perhaps more interesting progress overall? Even Lamborghini has been known to keep the same designs for a decade or more but Ferrari iterates more quickly.
And it shows………as we’ve seen not necessarily a good thing. The opposite of good is not bad………the opposite of good is perfect. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The applicable question is not, "can" you use all 1000 hp. The question is "where"? The answer is, well only really on a track. But my 670hp 488 Ch Evo is faster on a track (not to mention 1000x safer). So maybe the applicable question really is "why"?
The sheer acceleration (g forces), speed (optical stimulus) and sound (auditory stimulus) answers your question. If that doesn't satisfy you, I don't know what will. BTW, Enzo cared mostly about speed. Yes, he did love the sound of the V12 (who doesn't?), but he was all about power and winning races.
Given your perspective, it’s clear the V12 forum isn’t for you. Perhaps you should try the other forums?
I think you 've got me all wrong mate. I love the Ferrari V12 as much as any car enthusiast; it 's the greatest automotive engine ever (well, perhaps excluding the V12 in the Valkyrie). I just think it 's a shame that Ferrari has relegated it to a GT/legacy role. Wouldn 't it be fantastic if the F250 project (new LaFerrari) had a 12,000 RPM V12, instead of a TT V6? Anyway, iffs and butts and all that... The 250 will still be an amazing machine.
Was replying to your allusion towards my alleged aversion against the N/A Ferrari V12; an engine I revere and have been lucky enough to enjoy in the 599. I apologise for calling you "mate", since you clearly took offence in it. I shall refer to you as "sir" from now on. I hope that 's more agreeable.
