Hello gents! I finally removed the steering rack yesterday and am having a hard time finding the correct bushing for it. I only can find a 308 bushing available. Will that work?

Oh, loosening the sway bar linkages makes removal so much easier.

Old bushing is smushed into a pile of broken plastic and grease.

Measure shaft and hole diameters, factor in the clearance you'd like, then 3D print and test fit 512 different combinations until you find the best one ;)

Correction: Not sure if it fits the Testarossa. It fits the BBi. maybe you can tell us what car you have?

    Oh. 1986 Testarossa.

inside diameter needed is 23mm. Outside diameter needed is about 30mm. I can’t find the dimensions of any of these bushings in the listings.

This is the approximate dimensions of the Dino 246 bushing (same dimensions as the 308):

OD of the bushing sleeve = 30.45 mm, ID = slightly bigger than the shaft OD that's = 21.38 mm. Bushing width = 20.8 mm.

I've used both custom made bronze replacement bushings and "original" newly produces plastic bushings with success. Don't use NOS bushing of plastic. They are brittle and will disintegrate shortly after installation. Use very thin 0-0 grase for lubricant...approximately 0.25 liters as I remember it.

    Best, Peter

When mine broke, I bought a replacement made in bronze from Rock’s Auto Restoration in Toronto.
