    I both disagree and agree!

I don't care what he costs, but the fact that it looks like Ferrari will make a net financial gain from his signing is ok and at least nulls any argument about him being a waste of money.
However I completely agree that wins and titles are all I'm interested in. It's been a looooong time since Ferrari were at the top where they should be.

    Unfortunately a „no“
He might add a lot of experiences but no team spirit at all…

Teams need money to race and overpay drivers who dont even have titles!! Merchandising helps keep teams going. It matters. Purity in racing is not found in F1.
    Possibly amateur events!

Heck, Ham is having trouble beating Russell.

If they wanted to break up the Lec/Sai team, I'd have considered Sainz and Norris, who worked well together in Singapore.

Leclerc qualifies well, but can't seem to convert that to wins.

If it stays like this for both Ferrari and Mercedes...absolutely.

IF (keywords ladies) this is the case, this might well be the worst possible signing in a long, long time.

These British commentators(SkySportsF1) are comparing this move as Schumacher-esque? I'm like wtf?

Expect Russell to be favored this season with upgrades as Mercedes cuts Lewis out of key developments and technical information. Over the next few races Lewis will be viewed more as a spy for Ferrari than someone Mercedes is working towards winning a championship for. Lewis must have already known this year's car wasn't going to be anything special or he wouldn't have made the move in a quest to find that 8th championship. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Lewis doesn’t have it anymore. His time has come and gone just like those before him. This season will prove it.

Ferrari made a very bad decision.

Last season didn't prove it as he beat all non RB drivers. I don't think he can lose that much in a year. Its just the first race. Sure he is not his old self, but is still better than most drivers on the grid. You think Alonsos time has come and gone?

    We’ll see!

IMO Alonso is the last of a great era where drivers when the men were cut different.

Lewis isn’t that type of guy.

? They are roughly 3 years apart in age. That's like saying Schumacher and Barichello are from different eras.

    +1

Can Hamilton do anything better than Sainz at Ferrari ? Hamilton will be grossly overpaid if he doesn't "do a Schumacher" for Italy.

As long as Ferrari is not really interested in winning an F1 championship, Hamilton is good news - he gives hype and headlines.
Of course Ferrari would be happy winning, but they're not motivated enough to plan for it; their marketing approach works well without the racing, and for a long time, racing has not been a goal in itself.

That's a good and straight question for Elkann to answer.
