Due to a combination of bad weather and travel my frequently driven F8 Spider sat idle for about 4 weeks. I finally drove it tonight to dinner with the wife. I pretty much always put the leftovers in the frunk and when we opened it up tonight we found a cozy abode built by some mice.

Upon inspection, I discovered the seal around the top portion of the front compartment had unseated itself at the spot indicated by the arrow in the image. The resulting gap provided a point of entry for the mice. Fortunately, it doesn't appear anything was damaged and the towel used by the mice for their home thankfully must have caught any mouse by products. After a quick vacuum everything looks good and smells normal.

It was pretty simple to reinstall the seal. I'll be checking it each time I open the frunk.

    Just a heads up.........

I had mice get into my 355 the same way..... and dug themselves through the firewall and into the interior. Ate all the carpet and rubber seals.

You really want to protect the wires from rodents. That's where it can get expen$ive.

Do you have cats? Some persons believe that even the smell of a cat in a garage will dissuade mice from taking up residence.

be aware mice only need a 1/4 hole or slightly smaller to ingress. they also pee everywhere leaving a telltale trail for other mice to follow.

The cats all live inside my house on permanent vacation. The car has been in my shop for nearly a year and this is the first time I've seen this. If the weather is good I drive the car 2 or more times per week but that changed over the past 6 weeks when the weather was bad. Here in northern Alabama we have 9 or 10 good driving months so this is the first time the car has sat a few weeks with no use. I'm going to place poison in the shop in case any other rodents have the Ferrarista bug.

Ah! I get a couple sets of these every quarter and place them around the corners of my garage and by the entrances. I can't smell them (even though they are lemon & minty and not appalling), and I've been using them for years with great success. It seems they don't like the smell or they can't find food because the scent is too strong so they stay away. I still have regular traps set in the garage as a fail-safe, but I have never caught a mouse in one since I've started using these things.

What I like about them is that you don't have to manage them like a trap. That is, if you are gone you don't have to worry about dead mouse smell in your garage, or say all of your traps being potentially full and allowing more mice to roam. By the way, I don't always use the same brand, I just grab whatever from the local hardware store and call it a day. They all seem to be about the same.

A neighbor of mine did a tear down on his house to put up a new one last year. At some point I saw a mouse get into my garage. I am guessing that it got chased out of the other house when it got torn down and looked to settle in my garage which is a lot behind that house. While I almost got him I didn't want to necessarily push him/it/her out of the garage and then to only find its way into my house. So I let it be and haven't had a problem fortunately. While I don't know if it moved over to the house, I think its been gone for awhile in the garage.

I think the average life-span of a mouse is pretty short- on the order of 9 months to 1.5 years, so the one you saw is probably deceased. BUT, he may have left his (a.k.a. yours) garage estate to his descendants!:D

Yeah for sure. Where there is one, there are more. I am diligent to check things over to see if anything presents itself but I see no evidence of anything still being in there. Set some traps as well. The ol cat and mouse game I don't want to be a part of.

My 458 is getting repaired right now because a mouse chewed through a fuel pressure sensor wire. I have traps around the house and the peppermint deterrents all over my garage now[emoji43]‍[emoji94]

Dang! What kind of storage space is it in? Garage doors seal fairly well or no?

Private garage. Looks like 3” of weatherstripping was missing from door seal. They nested behind a cabinet. They have been taken care of now. Thankfully it was only a wire that needed to be spliced back together.

Now the buggers are actually chewing through the seal. I'm normally a live and let live sort of guy but now the gloves are off! We have a 20 acre farm and these mice have a barn, wood piles, and a 4200 ft2 shop in which to find a home but they have chosen my ride for their home. Of course, the F8 is a very comfortable ride so I can see why they like the digs.....
