overall quite original car - excellent reference

seems that the motor was tossed together - bolts missing on the valve covers, radiator missing, fuel line and fuel rail missing and the carbs are installed backwards. Just observations - would be a great car for a resto - much better than what i started with

It does not say but sounds like the vin on the motor is missing but the stamp is there, potentially validating the motor and originality.

Can anyone furnish a photo that would give a sense of what this exterior color would look like?
A (vintage) car pic would be great.
Barring that, if anyone had a vintage color sample card (or whatsit?), that would be great as well.
I find the description interesting and I’m trying to picture what it would look like. TIA.

From the Gooding description, “Camoscio(Chamois) over light beige leather upholstery. The exterior paint, a Lechler product known by code 1038, was named after the Chamois, a goldish brown relative of the antelope found throughout Europe.”.

 

Look at the photo of the dashboard, it is original paint.

I know of 3 ellena's that were originally painted in that color....i never seen one painted today in that color.....must be a reason!

And yes, the dash and the upper top of the interior doors are that color as well.

I found this Ellena back in the Fall. I owned 0755 and it took me years to track down 0837 and sort through some of the confusion between the two with great help, especially from Marcel and Tom S. years ago.

Lot of pieces were in boxes, it was quickly pieced together to account for and confirm everything was there and make sure nothing was left behind. A true time capsule.

 

so, any insight into why identities were swapped?

Sold and will most likely undergo a full restoration to original spec. East coast

 

Hello all. I'm the happy owner of 0837 GT and as you all surmised it is undergoing a comprehensive restoration at this time, with the hope of finishing mid-year 2026. The engine is being rebuilt by Andy Greene in Savannah, the master of these vintage Ferrari engines. The car is being restored by D L George in PA, and their work is unmatched. It will all go back to original colors of course. The car was incredibly complete. The only major part we were missing was a radiator . . . if anyone here has a source for a precise match to an Ellena radiator, I'd be very appreciative. I'll post photos as we move ahead . . the car should be in paint within a month or so.

New York, April 1958. Special light metallic color and light tan interior is so obvious in numerous photos. Once again: am I the only one to notice?

No, just metallic bronze.

 

That timing would match pretty well. The car went to Chinetti in March, 1958. Now I'm on the hunt for NY auto show photos from 1958 in full color ; ). Thanks for sharing!
