Its a V6 they should have went all out. It better be. How else will they convince people to pay in excess of 2m € for a V6. Valkryie has the aero and the V12, AMG has a real F1 engine in it, both major selling points. The f250 is a 296gtb with an active wing and doors that go up. The LMP,F1 tech for the road claim to me sounds like marketing on Ferrari's side (SF90 "XX") You could say that for the AMG but the F250 cmon now.
The V6 is a true race breed Engine. It won Le-Mans. The Ring and Daytona 24hr races in WEC and GT3 In V6TT GT3 and V6TT Hybrid WEC form
We have to notice its competitor are just theoretical competitors. True the Valkyrie has a beautiful V12 but this car is absolutely not a usable road car. AMG one is a too complex project to be a successful one. A permanent compromise. And I don’t even talk about the reliability problems for both cars..
We can always try to legitimize the use of a V6, but in the end it's still 6 cilynders in a hypercar, with a base of 296 !
I take the opposite view - there will be many many who can afford to , and would pay close to the €2.5M( I believe over 4 times after discussions with a bunch of friends over many barolos - so v accurate !)…. WEC victories provide legitimacy
288 GTO was a TT V8, looking very similar to the bread and butter V8 model. Long before anyone was hung up on "hypercars", doesn't really seem to hurt the legacy one bit
The 288 was a homologation special for one of the most hyped racing series of the past century. That combined with the lineage of supercars that came after are what make it so desirable (as well as the GTO moniker). If Ferrari mass produced the same car and called it a 288 gtb with no racing provenance, it would probably be worth the same as 512 bb’s are now.
Even until recently I still can not believe Ferrari stick to V6 for Hypercar, I now slowly get the sense of using LMH V6 based road going model as next hypercar. Without the win, 499P the client car has less merit to own but now that it is the winning car everyone accept to pay the price. This F250 feels more like a roadgoing version of winning car. The charm has been massively increased. It should have killer design. Has to be ultra small package and weight should be 1200kg around with 1200hp I think SP3 could be the last mid engine V12 Icona because there will be no midship chassis to base on for V12 engine if they don’t reuse the LaFerrari chassis. I am afraid that this is an unrealistic weight figure, as it is F50 territory, which was a much smaller and simpler car.
I would rather want to see it happen. They somehow did SP3 1450kg ish. So shaving 200kg with advanced smaller batterypack and superlight engine plus motor is not out of reach in my opinion. Well lets hope high. This is the next gen hyper car after all. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Not trying to nit-pick here, but the stated dry weight of the SP3 is 1485 kg, so let's say around 1500, dry. The F250 will probably have 3 electric motors though, plus a sizeable battery. Factor in the active aero motorisation systems and all the mandatory safety equipment and I can't see this getting any lighter, even with the most advanced chassis carbon construction methods. It will have mesmerising performance, there is no doubt about that. But I reckon that all modern hybrid hypercars cannot be super-light and that's fine as long as they drive and perform as they should.
-Weight should be around: 1475 - 1575 curb as its gotta be less than the SF90XX. But sadly i think curb is going to be 1600kg ish -The LaFerrari and 499P have one electric motor so if the F250 is to have 3 electric motors and take on that extra weight we have to to have more than 1200hp -The big question is will the Engine stay at 2.96L or are we looking at a larger version lets say 3.96L?
-Than what is the point in having a Halo model if when it comes out the factory have a currently model that already more powerful. -This would also be a direct contradiction to every halo model that came before it. We all know it won't be less than 1500kgs but it should be in the 1200 to 1500 hp range. -The Halo should wipe the floor with a Vs model as per the past
Agreed. But the way you wrote those things is like you were disagreeing with me, whereas we seem to agree.
