Congratulations, this is a very appealing design. However, looking at the two large holes that can be seen in the rear canvas of the latest F167 mule, perhaps the final version will incorporate two air outtakes, as happens in the 812 C.
Love the sketches but this car will have bigger blind spots than the GTS! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Returning back to trunk lid of F167. Not sure if that has been analyzed in detail before. I don't think Ferrari would intentionally mask the trunk lid substantially differently than it really is. So I'm expecting it to be a mix of 812SF and Roma. It seems to be a lot closer to 812SF with opening window and lid not going as low as in Roma. If you compare the bottom of the lid to real wheels level, it is likely that in F167 the register plate area will not be a part of trunk lid (the mask exaggerates a bit how low the lid goes). The lid size is kept compact for structural reasons. The bigger it is, the more reinforcements are needed, adding weight. It remains to be seen if the lid is made of metal or whether Ferrari even opts to use carbon for standard model. Probably the carbon is reserved for special version, though. I have an impression that Ferrari is not targeting to absolute minimum weight with this car (given the reported glass roof elements and form of the lid), but tries to make it unique and special in other ways. If we look in more detail at the rear of the F167 mule seen in February 2024, we notice in the picture that there is a grille in the place where the arrow points. This grille could be an air outtake suggesting that the rear of the 812's successor could have air outtakes at the back to relieve pressure from the wheel arches at high speed, as happens with the 812 C. As for the lines of the future car, I don't risk any guess but I note what has already been said by a well-known Italian spotter "Expect the unexpected". The opening that the grille covers is most likely just to ventilate the hot muffler compartment below it. I included that grille in my sketch above.
New Chrysler Halcyon concept has a very similar design vision to what I’m expecting. Not literally exact but the muscular fenders, continuous front-to-back crease, light bars front and rear, and uninterrupted roofline are all there: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great job, ingegnere! And I can prove with a prototype picture that you are right! They were careless at Ferrari and left an important detail without the camouflage. The light-shadow effect in the detail of the rear apron (green circle) is the same as in your rendering. These are influences from the Vision Gran Turismo concept that we see here on the production car. I've already said that you are the most experienced designer here in the chat when it comes to the details. Now put the remaining puzzle pieces together, my friend... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you. Not too hard to read a design when not camouflaged, LOL. The hard part is to imagine how this integrates into the rest of the car and imagining with what design language—design language that varies by model and evolves quite a bit. Now if they would just uncover more of the car, this would make our ‘job’ much easier . Alternatively, those who saw the car may want to divulge a bit more details. In the meantime, the constant great ideas and designs by FC resident artists are fantastically enjoyable.
I feel like this captures the car in terms of the major elements. It’s 90% of the equation for sure 1. I feel there would be some type of aero element behind front fender but we have no information on that 2. I feel like there would be more body sculpting below swage lone but we have no info on that 3. I feel like center of rear deck lid may be lower than side flanks ala Lamborghini Aventador. And maybe deck lid comes down below rear spoiler If those in the know could add information on these elements it would be helpful …
This is how I think the F167 trunk lid will look like (compared to Roma). Image Unavailable, Please Login
All good comments, thanks! About 1, I thought so also but a few here have indicated otherwise. If there is something, it may be some venting along the swage line at the hood cut-line. For 2, the fender/door front edge cut-line shape is a great indicator of the body section there and the section looks pretty flat below the crease even if a bit tucked under at the bottom. Finally, for 3, yes, all good possibilities but if the rear glass seen in some cars is real, the slope is not great enough to make it below the spoiler (I think), and comments about the roof line to the tail being continuous make me think Daytona (the old one) and so even my sketch is wrong. But in general the rear is pretty difficult to predict.
There is of course this camo car which looks to have a spine dividing the rear window in half. View it with the attachemnt above from 4re4ever Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actually, I'm expecting a noticeable void in that black rear corner area, between the edge of the light bar and the exhaust box.
Regarding the F167 and the enthusiasm that exists in trying to guess what the final car will be like, I will remember what happened during the development of the 812 SF. The information we had was scarce and for the first time in October 2016 appeared the black mule of the F12 M shown in the pictures below. This mule was used with only slight variations until the launch of the 812 SF at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. As can be seen by comparing the pictures of the mule with those of the 812 SF, only if we had x-ray vision would we have been able to perceive much of what was hidden beneath the canvas and that was why the lines of the 812 SF were for a long time difficult to guess. This mystery ended when during one of the private presentations one of Ferrarichat members took a picture of the car and published it here. When the 812 SF was presented in Geneva many of us already had an accurate idea of what it looked like. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a sketch of a very different nature to push the discussion... wide C-pillar in Targa look (with a large glass area and windshield in front of it). Small rear window (not split, although still possible). The look of the “very fat lady“ at the bottom right is also a bit reminiscent of a Lamborghini. Air vents at the rear fenders in the style of the Vision Gran Turismo... i deliberately exaggerated a bit in this drawing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
