So here is the backstory. A little over two years ago, I had an airbag ECU error, which I replaced the ECU. I have all the service records, so this was the first replacement, and I thought after that many years parts fail, so life goes on. Then earlier this spring, I had the same failure mode. it got my attention but I went ahead and had the ECU replaced and problem goes away. Four months later this summer, an internal error code on the airbag ECU went off again. Fortunately, I was able to get Ferrari to replace the airbag ECU at no cost since it denoted an internal error.
My tech and I have been researching this and some areas point to an intermittent battery switch that could be creating transients in the ECU module and therefore causing an error and failure. The other option is the rats nest solution of possibly a wiring harness issue. He did briefly check that and didn’t find anything obvious, however, did not get into detail of doing a pin continuity test.

My other dilemma is the battery master is no longer being made, and finding a used one doesn’t give me a ton of confidence that it will fix the problem if it is a battery master, so I am reaching out to the group to solicit opinions, if anyone has had experience, or knows of anybody with a similar problem

Has anyone found non-Ferrari alternatives out there? Seems like a straightforward function for a switch and probably much more reliable,

Well that’s interesting because I checked with them in Euros spares and neither recommended that replacement. All they said that was available were used parts. Thanks – I will do some verification

I had given that some thought, and was going to talk to my tech about it. I’m not as concerned with originality since I don’t plan on selling the car until I can’t drive any longer

There are many on eBay used. My concern with used is it may buy me nothing as far as the intermittency of the switch if that is my problem. That’s why I prefer new and I’ve got a worldwide search out and coming up empty on this and the Maserati equivalent. For the life of me, I can’t believe that nobody has picked this up as an aftermarket item

Have you tried removing and cleaning the switch or is it just worn out?

I haven’t yet. I would need to see how the contacts are arranged to see if cleaning it would have any merit.
