Is EAG gone

Its obvious (to me at least) EAG 2.0 will resurface to support existing and future 6 speed conversion customers, there just too many of us and too much money invested on both sides for this to go up in smoke.

 

You may be right, but… this has definitely diminished the market…

In the back of my mind I was thinking, you know, once I get all the noodling bits sorted on my F1 F430 Spider, maybe I’ll do the manual conversion…

But now? No way in hell!

The EAG kit is rock solid. I just converted my car over the winter by a local shop. The car drives like it’s from factory. I chose EAG because the kits been around the longest, included cluster / ECU updates, shift column deletes and parts are beautifully crafted. I would say find a suitable shop first, the magic is in the installation.
I wouldn’t let this saga deter you from taking the leap, there’s other kits in the marketplace.

Dan really is just a "Normal Guy" who came from IT and is trying to make a living with his love for cars. Does he make rookie mistakes? Sometimes. He really was a "green" in the entrepreneur game when he got involved with EAG and as he said in the video got EAG investors and customers where he really felt obliged to stay and try to make them whole. That is the sign of a "good-guy". Should he have smelled something wrong with Art and EAG? Maybe, but Art did get some seasoned investors involved and they all, Dan included, had better attorneys than Art. In Dan's case, he may have some monies owed and in the investor's case, they may own what was taken. I say "may" as there are three sides to every story (thank you Kurosawa) and who knows what the entire truth actually is.

I agree with Dan's assessment that he shouldn't bother suing. It will be throwing good money after bad unless EAG emerges from this as the same entity and in good financial shape where he can actually collect something. Both of which I doubt. It's just too easy to close the old entity and start a new one. Even the government did that with GM. The GM before the government bail-out is not the same entity as GM today. Sorry not intending this to be P&R, it's just a fact of how business is done.

 

The other kits are knockoffs of Art's design and without the Trev ECU software reflash are, how shall we say, definitely problem prone.

 

Please enlighten us about how the oem based kits are EAG knock offs from an objective engineering standpoint.

Those of you inferring or stating that Art stole from EAG without evidentiary confirmation is libelous and frankly stupid. Defaming someone on rank speculation has made lawyers wealthy and financially crushed the perpetrators. When the true facts are revealed about the management coup and financial affairs some may be running for the hills.

 

What is the setup problem--mechanical, tuning or both?

 

Weren't you in another thread a while back talking about how 2 years after the delivery date that you still didn't get your car back and that Art ghosted you?

Why are you going so far to defend someone that treated you so poorly?

Attempted preservation of value perhaps? Pretty devastating if the market stays away from EAG converted cars with a 10ft pole…

Also, my interpretation of the Investor’s post in the other thread is that they will stand behind the cars that were converted under their tenure but cars done before they entered the business may be SOL? That would destroy those values; I imagine their valuation methodology would be current value of an EAG converted car in F1 form minus the labor + software to revert back to F1. Plus/minus on a case by case basis.

 

So the top is a knock-off of the bottom?

There is no debate there. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to compare those units.

 

I think a lot of people, especially in the Ferrari world, and especially those without a mechanical background, think that paying more is giving them a better product. While that may oftentimes be the case, it is not every single time.

at this point it’s just killing brain cells anyway… There is no doubt Dr. S had their hands on an EAG kit and there’s nothing foul play about that… Dr. S surely benefited from the R&D mistakes EAG made along my way… Again there’s nothing foul play about Dr. S evaluating EAG’s product.

Personally I give Art credit was for scaling and getting kits made in size during Covid which was a feat in and of itself. I also give Art credit for getting the first scud fully functional, which would not have been possible without his partnership with Trev… There are at least two other scuds that had to go back to F1 because they couldn’t crack the Ediff problem.

 

To a degree, however the sticking point was doing things properly. You can duct tape 2 wires together to get current through. Or you can solder and heat shrink them. Both methods will get the current through although one method is much better than the other. If you're paying that much I wouldn't want any shortcuts taken.

We are just beating a dead horse though. The people with mechanical, machining, and engineering backgrounds along with the people that work on these cars, some professionally have generally said that they believe the EAG tower is an inferior product. The other people that have EAG kits or a vested interest in the success of EAG say that is the better of the two because theirs hasn't broken.

In the end, neither party will likely be swayed.

yep - i had an oem actuator in my 430 conversion that went bad - was that Art's fault or ferrari's?

Having spoken to both Art and John multiple times this week I'm confident both intend to provide support to customers going forward.

 

Any part can fail. I saw an oem gear selector fail too however it was original to the car.

Like I said in other posts on the topic. I'm not saying Eag parts are guaranteed to fail. A lot of them never will. I am saying that in my opinion they could have been done better and that shortcuts were involved in the manufacturing process based on my years involved in the machining and casting industry.

Edit: I feel I should add that it is good news that both intend to support the current customers. It would be unfortunate to hear otherwise.
