We used to have a saying in the car biz, that you could pour a bucket of water over the engine compartment, and nothing would fall to the ground.
Eurospares source their parts from Maranello Classic Parts who are a main Ferrari dealer so these are OE parts.
Dan, could you share any more details about what the final resolution looked like? Also, if you would be comfortable, could you share the final line items on the work order? I just had this happen this AM w/ my car. My car is always connected to the Ferrari provided charger when it's not being driven. It has <<<500 miles on it, so this is naturally a huge disappointment for me.
Hello, They fixed but I flipped the car for a 296 GTS, hopefully Ill not have the same problem. If will have the same problem then Ill sell it back to the dealer and my story with Ferrari is over even if I loose my Purosangue allocation. I dont have time to loose with repairs and ****. I wish you best of luck
Thanks for the update Dan. I didn't have time to get the car to dealer as I had a busy day. I ended up resetting the code later that evening, and then went for a spirited drive. No more codes. I have no idea why it happened as the car is nearly always on the tender when I'm not driving it. I'll keep folks informed if it comes back.
I was interested in getting a 812, but not after reading this. So many issues! https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/812-fault-failures.615837/
Great question. Hard to tell as in one post he is considering cancelling his 296 build for a 812 gts and in another he got a 812 gts to go along with with tailor made. I was very surprised that someone could cancel their tailor made build after spending time to design it.
I am consigning my f8 and purchased a 812 gts from Ferrari of south bay I also have a tailor made coming this year but I will drive m my 812 gts more on road. All from Ferrari of South Bay it’s a buyers market many great cars on consignment I have zero issues with my f8 I think over time the non hybrid Ferrari will hold value better
Just took delivery of my new 296 GTS, drove it for the first time yesterday and it died, leaving me stranded. Car is back with dealer now, but only after Ferrari roadside assistance was unable to locate a qualified tow service. I have an AF SF90 spider, which was in six times in about 1,000 miles for a variety of system failures, so perhaps I should’ve expected this. No idea what the source of the problem is yet with the 296, but I lost engine power on the freeway and got the dreaded alarms and the infamous orange turtle. None of this is confidence inspiring. Car arrived to the dealer with an oil leak, requiring an oil pump replacement before being delivered to me. Apparently an all too common occurrence with these cars I’m told. I also learned the e-drive didn’t work either. As a loyal Ferrarista I’m quite disappointed with some of my recent new car experiences. My new 812 GTS gets delivered in the next day or two, so I’ll be keen to see whether this car is better sorted.
What I would be interested in is if this happens to a small minority of customers or if alot more owners have these issues and don't complain here ? I am still waiting for mine and this doesn't give you a good feeling about the car.
Seems as of late, post F8 only the V12 cars have been pretty reliable. Unfortunately definitely not the first I've heard of the problems you've been having. How many people's dream is a brand new Ferrari, realize it...then whenever you drive it, chance it ends on a flatbed is 50/50? Totally unacceptable.
As the founder and CEO of an international manufacturer of bespoke, complex, large scale machines, I know all too well the challenges of getting things to work perfectly. Thus, I try to be patient as a consumer, hoping our clients show us the same grace. However, I’m also aware that we have customers who have spent a lot of money and are entitled to their expectations. As a collector and fan, these things certainly cast a shadow on the experience of ordering a car, waiting a long time for its arrival and the subsequent excitement of finally being able to enjoy it. It’s certainly not limited to Ferrari though. My Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT was delivered to my home a few months back with a screw in a tire and then blew wax and coolant all over my paver driveway when the radiator failed, as the salesperson and I sat in it going through the initial setup. Porsche was kind enough to send me a $9,000 check to reimburse costs related to extensive cleaning of the driveway. To add insult to injury, it was then I learned the paver manufacturer had discontinued the color used in my brand new 10,000 square foot driveway. As a hedge against future driveway related brain damage, I then spent $20,000 buying every available pallet of that paver color. Perhaps this fiasco was fortuitous…
My guess is it's a small minority. I've had a 296 and a SF90 and haven't had any problems requiring dealer assistance on either one. The only time either of them went to the dealer for work was my SF90 for the recall. But even a small percentage of customers having issues with any model car is not a good thing to hear. I know it's definitely frustrating for them.
What people gets it wrong from my view is that we have to treat the car as ICE engined one most of time and only use emotor for in and out purposes when in town. Drive qualifying mode all the time. Then you will likely see less problems. This is what I learned from 5cars. SF90 SF90AF SF90 spider 296gtb and lately 296gts. Gradually quality got better and more I drive the car ICE the better. At first I drove early SF90 like hybrid and I had a lot of problems. Qualifying and CT off. This is the only mode I use. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Interesting. I only Performance or Qualifying (performance primarily) as well, and have had zero issues. The only time I use EV or Hybrid mode is when I’m pulling into or out of my garage
UPDATE: Still don’t know exact cause yet as it’s still being investigated, but I’m told scan tools indicate a voltage problem with my brand new 296 GTS. These types of issues seem prevalent with 296 and SF90. Sadly, my 812 GTS won’t be delivered tomorrow as expected, because the dealer discovered a faulty passenger window motor issue. So, both brand new cars are at the dealer being sorted out. To make matters even more frustrating, my ‘24 Cayenne Turbo GT developed an engine failure alarm and also must be towed to the dealer. My other Cayenne (a hybrid with even fewer miles than my TGT) just returned a week ago after it, too, had a CEL. These four cars have less than 6,000 miles combined…
