Hey everyone, I am starting the research to purchase my first Ferrari. I wanted a 458 first but with a 3 year old I want to be able to take her for a backseat top down joy ride until she can legally ride up front in a 2 seater.
That said, I like the looks of the Cali T, just wanted to know if there are any major things to look for/understand! Is there any major benefit of buying directly from a Ferrari dealer CPO? Thanks in advance!

The Cali T Owner's Manual devotes tens of pages, in multiple places, to child seats and rear occupancy. I recommend you take the time to read these sections of the owners manual early. Many people have found that either the child will not meet the Ferrari safety restrictions (for head proximity to roof or in event of the roll bar deployment), or that the child simply cannot fit into the space with current required child seats.

There are several threads on the topic of "child seat" in this forum, which can be accessed by doing a "more" targeted search limited to this forum.

Cali T is an excellent machine, buying a Ferrari CPO gets you an inspected/approved warranty eligible used car. Not the cheapest one but worth it for peace of mind Ferrariapproved.com
    Good luck on your search

mcw, yes thanks to this forum I have already read those threads and read the official manual on the requirements. This is a 4 year car for me so will be perfect to handle my daughters size so the 3 of us can cruise!

Does everyone on here normally do the extended warranty through them?

I have a car seat in my Cali T. Not all models fit so be mindful of that. My 3.5yo daughter loves it. Car pool is fun in the mornings!

I do not have the Ferrari extended warranty. I let it drop last year on my 2016 car. When I bought the car from Ferrari of Newport Beach in 2021, as part of the sales negotiation they agreed to a two-year warranty on it for $1,500 per year. When that ran out last year, I believe the price was closer to $7,000 per year. For my circumstances, I chose not to renew but still use the dealer for service. Nothing but routine service has been required on my car since new. I'm somewhere around 30,000 miles total on the car.

My first post on the forum so welcome everyone:)

I picked up my Cali T last Friday and all I can say is, I'm completely in love with it. I have to kids and my younger one is nearly 5 , I got a perfect car seat for him (Maxi Cosi airfix) that fits really well at the back and leaves room for his legs.

My car is the Ferrari approved one , I didn't want to risk it buying from anyone else and liked the security that warranty provided.

I say go for it, you won't regret it.

Great! It would help future readers with this question to see a photo of your 5-year old in the backseat car seat. Photo of you with a smile might be good idea too. I predict your smile to remain unchanged.

1- Make sure you have a plug for the battery tender
2- If getting Cali T, get the handling speciale one.
3- Carplay and updated stereo is a must, car won't be old if you have an up2date entertainment.

other than that, it is a fantastic car, enjoy!

    Thanks for the reply!
    1) Yep, got that covered!
    2) I don’t see many of those, why do you think so important? I read just stiffer dampeners…
    3) how do I look for the upgraded stereo? All the head units look the same.

The most important thing on a HS is the exhaust, and that is an easy and cheap retrofit to any Cali T.

Sorry for ignorance, what is HS? I've heard mention of the sport exhaust for around $1k. Who did you get to install?

HS = Handling Speciale. Different suspension parts, and a better exhaust. I bought the HS exhaust from eBay and had it installed, easy and cheap-ish, and a game changer in sound.

The factory price for parts is over $7k. Need to be smart with the parts and you can find them for $1k.

By the way, not sure where you are located. If you are anywhere near NC, hit me up and I'll be happy to meet up and show the car (with a child seat).

I’ll be selling my 2017 “T” as soon as the weather clears here in the northeast, I have a spider ordered. That being said, my 8 year old has been using the back seat since I bought the car in 2020. He’s now about 52” tall and fits comfortably in the back seat - and loves it.

I’m in FL panhandle (Destin). I actually am planning to be in Charlotte one weekend in April to meet a watch buddy for dinner. He’s a big Ferrari guy out of Greensboro.
Not sure where you are in NC. We have our own plane so travel is easy, I’m sure we could work something out!
