Do F1 cars not have a weight jacker?

Charles' first call was about "fronts locking up". That would point to a front/rear balance -- in lieu of further information.

But why complain about something the pit wall can't fix?
That's basically just telling the competition, "I'm hurt, come pass me".

Probably it's only if Liberty really starts losing money because of public dissatisfaction that things may change.
But then, having made enough of it, they will probably hope to offload the series rather than change the format.

Charles should leave Ferrari for Mercedes.

I said that several times, only to be told he is very loyal, and driving for Ferrari is his dream.
That sounds bonkers to me, but hey !!!
A driver should go to the team that will give him the best chance to win.

    Fully agree,
I don’t know how formula one instances will manage to maintain audiences with a so predictable dominance.

From the outside, It seems they are possibly taking advantage of his loyalty and not giving him the full support he deserves. Seeing him have these brake issues on the first race this year has convinced me that for the sake of his career he should have swapped with Elton. I also suspect he isn’t as a shrewdly cut throat as perhaps he should be.

The teams generally considered the top 5 finished in places 1 to 10; the other teams finished in places 11 thru 20. Ho-hum. Maybe the cars eliminated in Q1 and Q2 should have been eliminated from the race entirely; the results would have been the same.

Totally agree on all that !!! The brake issue today was bad preparation, IMO. Shoddy work in other words.
The Scuderia has been letting him down many times, but he keeps trusting them like a puppy his master.

Possibly, but the public pays to watch 20 cars, don't they? ;)
Also, some cars eliminated in Q1 and Q2 manage to finish in the points.

Merc ain't it. Hence LH leaving.

CL can't beat Max over an entire championship.

No wonder Toto looked sad on the stand. Russel said: "I made a really good start, got into second and I just thought 'here we go' and suddenly I had these big red alarms on my steering wheel, and I had no battery left and we had to turn the power down. "We were losing about four tenths a lap just in power and it was so difficult holding them off, I was surprised we managed to do it for the first 10 laps or so...it's a shame that we didn't get to show any real potential of this car." He said all of the teams had five or six different cooling specifications and Mercedes had gone with their most aggressive option.

Gotta love the first race. All the testing and practice ******** gets shut down cold!!!

Looks like the only team that can beat Redbull is themselves. Unless the FIA “steps in” somehow.

If they are going to dominate again this year I’d love to see Max get a perfect season. It would be cool to witness that level of perfection. That’s a once in a lifetime experience.

Apart from Red Bull clearly above the rest, I would rather trust Mercedes in the long term than Ferrari.
I don't know the reasons why Hamilton leaves, but they may have nothing to do with performance.
I agree, it looks like Leclerc lacks consistency to win a championship.

Well at least Hammy will have great season. No need to push, he already knows he’s not going to be WDC in this Merc. No pressure from Toto of any concern, his new employer prefers he rests up and not steal any points from them anyway. All the pressure and focus will be on his teammate.

No battery power because he wasn’t regenerating enough during the race. Oops!.

Wasn’t near his teammate in qualifying or the race.”So Lewis, after that first race, how are you feeling?” “The race umm well… but I feel Great!” “What did you learn about the car this time out”. Umm, it’s reliable?”…… Yup, all the signs are there this is The Hammock’s summer of backmarker rejuvenation.

Irrespective of what one thinks of LH he wouldn't leave Merc if he thought he could win another WDC there.
At his age long term is not necessarily viable.

As for F, looks like they're aiming to become the MLS of F1 - where former greats go for their last hurrah.
    Crazy decision.

    I can't believe I watched an F1 race AGAIN!
I've been watching and going to F1 races since the 1970s (do the math)
I'm not sure I can do this anymore.

fyi: interesting article about Red Bull in today's Wall St Journal

I think I'm going with this. We should have all known RB was the team to beat. Ferrari showed up. The pit wall was arguably ok. The pit crew hit a couple 2.2. That's solid. 3/4 is not great, but Ferrari didn't step on their crank. I think there was something with CL car, but Carlos drove the **** out of his. Kept up with checo with hards. Hopefully Ferrari takes the data back and makes the changes. If nothing else, Fred did move it forward.

Looking at qualifying times, these cars are already within two seconds of the 2020/21 cars.

Get pumped, the right team took the top 2 spots on the podium.
Powered by Honda continues where they left off last season, P1, 2, 13 and 14.
Amazing to see Perez take P2.
Congratulations to Sainz for an excellent race and taking a podium and doing his best to rub it in their faces for ditching him for a guy who was the best but by the time he takes his seat will not be.
