I just replaced my dash light faces. Turned battery off unplugged instrument cluster, changed face , plugged back in and now dash lights are always on with or without headlights on. I’m almost 99% sure it didn’t do that before, but I did have the really dark red faces before.

All dash lights... or do some extra ones come on when you turn on the external lights?

It’s just the white backing light. Nothing changes when I turn on the lights. They do shut off when I turn the car off.

I guess the lights are always on, guess I didn’t know it because I had a dark red. This new one must be a little more transparent and lets more light it. Wow that guy really redlines his car.

By red lining the guts out of the engine while going nowhere is how you bugger up the exhaust manifolds , when stopped very little cooling air ,

Make sure the LED lights on the new dash are facing the right way, or they might act wonky. Also, take a look at the fuses for the instrument cluster lights – a blown fuse could be the reason they won't turn off. And sometimes, a faulty dimmer switch can cause the lights to stay on.

Nicklas, the lighting behaviour is normal (according to the experts).

Note that 430 does not have a rotary dimmer switch. There is a multifunction pushbutton panel which adjusts the lights incrementally (A "digital" input, not a potentiometer). The LED background lights don't have individual bulbs, so it's not possible to get them back to front:

I do recall faults where the gauge needles were illuminated but not the general background lighting (or perhaps it was vice versa), but I don't know how this happens.

There are no specific fuses for lights, just live battery & key power fuses for the whole instrument panel. When the external lights are turned on, an earth is put on a specific pin on the panel, but from what is written above, I see there are no changes to the lighting. The earth must only be used for the sidelight annunciator. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Looking at your other posts, I see you are a newbie offering "generic" advice for these vehicles, but, like me, you may not have had much "hands on" experience with these specific cars :D

I'm sorry, and yeah, I might be a bit short on experience. Those were just my thoughts based on what I've personally seen.
