It’s easier to manage the grip on snow than a wet and cold autumn road with oily leaves etc. You’re usually going faster than with snow so the breakaway can catch you out - the surface is much less progressive. With the extra weight up high the 4-seat cars always seem a bit more susceptible to a snap than in a two-seater car. PS must be the same. Good in snow, need to be careful at higher speed in the wet.

Also, the four-wheel-drive system works in gear 4 down, as you know. On a wet road you travel at speeds that means retaining 4th gear adds a lot of energy to the drivetrain. The system requires slip for the fronts to engage. Works fine with lower speeds on snow, not so well at higher speeds in autumn conditions. At least my experience.

Yes with the extra height and weight, going to be noticeable but was very surprised at its instability and also lack of torque. Found the FF/GTC4 had much more grip and felt more energetic, didn't notice the lack of torque.

I drove nearly 20,000 miles on my GTC4 in all conditions all over the world and I never found it loose. Granted, if it was slick with wet leaves, I dialed back my driving enthusiasm - nothing can save you from wet leaves, or ice. I also think a lot comes down to tires. I think people get into a “4WD” and think that solves a lot of issues. This has over 700hp!

Puro has more torque (and HP) than the GTC4 and FF. 80% of the Puro's torque is available at 2,100 rpm and it peaks at 6,250 rpm, so it comes on more linearly which makes it less noticeable to the driver.

As far as instability, I can't understand what you're talking about. I test drove the Puro in Italy, on dry and wet roads, and it was absolutely amazing. I ordered mine just two days after that test drive.

Then you should chat to my wife, I asked her what did she think of the sound, she said I was so scared of crashing, as it was slipping all over the place ,I did not notice . However believe a contributing factor was the fact that the tires were cold but still should not have been that bad

Yeah, I don't what to tell you. There have been many, many test drives by people on this forum and this is the first time I've ever heard anyone say anything like that. I was with 15 other people at Corso Pilota when we all took turns driving Puros, and everyone was raving about it.

Ugh, I'm hoping the Purosangue doesn't replace the Urus as the de rigueur status vehicle for all the wannabe rap artists/influencers/youtubers, etc. To see the marque watered down by that unsavory contingent would be sickening!

The Puro production numbers will be far less than that of the Urus, so I don’t think that’s something you need to worry about.

Did you have winter tires? The summer performance and even all season performance tires are lousy when temperatures drop. The rubber gets hard and they lose traction easily especially in wet conditions . I keep a dedicated set of Pirelli Scorpion winter tires for my 812 and swap them in once temps start dipping below 50.

I think the shields look totally lost and are too small for the space and have an awkward placement, imho no shields is mandatory

Always used winter tyres in winter on both FF and Lusso. Michelin Alpin. Also have them fitted to our 812 currently. No point using these cars in cold and greasy conditions without. Just can’t heat the tyres.

That said, winter tyres can be part of the problem because the tread blocks can sometimes roll over under heavy pressure and grip is released. I seem to remember the worst behaviour came early autumn before I had changed but with a drop in temperature, wet roads on summer tyres.

I think as well that it’s a commentary on how comfortable we get driving these cars fast with massive power and brilliant systems to help us. When traction is more limited it’s easy to forget - 2 tonnes and +/- 700bhp. That’s serious physics.

I agree with your take and Ive also ordered no shields. In my case I want to use the car a bit more and, for me, that means I have gone with a fairly under the radar spec.

Shields here. I wouldn’t get a Ferrari without them.

For those going with the shields, are you going with the airbrushed ones given their larger size seems more appropriate for the size of the fenders? I am trying to see if the $14k+ price on airbrush vs a couple of thousand on the regular ones is worth the upcharge...

I went with regular shields on my order. I could not justify an additional $14K for handpainted ones (especially given that so many colors that were previously free are now almost $13K USD).

On a car like this no shields is the way to go.

Does not need painted shields, as fender is not as big as an 812 , where you definitely need them

But normal shields are a must IMO, as they are a unique signature ferrari item

Beautiful blue! I was tempted for a bold blue like that as well but settled on a more conservative grey in the end. Yours looks great. Congrats!
