Help me find a part!

Can I ask, how is that you know you need a new one of these? Curious because one of the rubber hoses that connects to mine burst just last week.

 

Coolant IS what goes into it. See below. My understanding of the exchanger is that they hardly ever go bad which is why you can't find them. Is your mechanic a certified Ferrari mechanic?

worst scenario, is to buy a generic one and modify the ports.
looking for BMW ones. I saw one of those that are pretty much alike ours.

 

Can it not be decontaminated? Is something broken inside that caused cross contamination?

 

Eurospares might have it, here is the new part number . It is the transmission cooler, oil and coolant go into it.

That looks like a plate heat exchanger , if you put air pressure down one of the 4 connections you will get air back out of one other. Blank off the 3rd connector and fit a plastic pipe to the remaining one, drop that in a bucket of water and reapply the air pressure. No air will go into the water bucket if cooler is not leaking over the barrier

If testing using air pressure, you only need a few psi, you dont want to distort the heat exchanger

 

no, but a 2013 bmw 5 series oil cooler seems to fit

 

So, I am curious. A and B hoses both contain coolant going into and out of the heat exchanger. The exchanger is sitting on top of the oil cooler. Where do oil and transmission fluid go into the heat exchanger?

Found one with a different part number. Not sure if it was changed mid-run. I come from 360 land so I'm unfamiliar with this design.

Thanks for posting! Interesting, those are oil pipes. So there is no transmission fluid that goes into the heat exchanger.

I looked up a heat exchanger for a 2013 bmw ser 5 but all i found was an air cooled exchanger ? Looked nothing like it

 

I always thought it was gearbox oil going through the heat exchanger. Can someone confirm please

 

This really sucks that at 20k miles F430 heat exchangers are failing.
