Nice work! In MA the front plate is compulsory but I dont' have one on 3 of my cars and I never got pulled off in the past 10 years or so for it... just need one for getting the sticker. So I just use the tow hook hole to install a temporary plate on my cars when I take it for the annual sticker.

Thank you! Yea that’s nice. When the cops all know the car here on Kaua’i I’m sure I’ll remove it for good, and when it’s in Texas, no need either. I never get pulled over there for no front plates. The car also doesn’t stand out nearly as much there either. It’s a bit much here. LOL.

The timing is finally set exactly to 656/656 for the intake and 660/660 for the exhaust per 360Trev's recommendation. The banks match each other, and it is not 2-3 degrees off anymore between the exhaust cams and 4 degrees off between the intake cams. It is 0 degrees between banks. This might be the most exact that this car has been in YEARS! Or ever. Coming along and should be done, test drove, and on the dyno, in about 1 month with them taking their time.

Right? I think I’m convinced to just let these guys do my major service every 5 years. I’m a good DIYer, but that is no comparison to a truly excellent professional mechanic and their tools. Truly amazed with these guys. What shop sends this many pictures and updates during auto work?

That's so cool you owned it since new. You were one of the guys like the one time I saw one in public in 2008. It stuck with me. 2008, Highway 114 in Irving Texas, driving west right beside me, black exterior. I just remember watching the guy drive beside me in it thinking "what does that guy do?" , "he made it", "will I ever be THAT guy?" etc. I also remember how huge the rotors looked through the wheels! Funny what our brains save, but that moment stuck with me for some reason.

Anyways, I'm glad to hear you have been enjoying yours for 20 years!

I have been fortunate to be a Ferrari owner since 1973. They were just used cars back then and actually more fun due to less costs involved and less public familiarity with the brand. They were all a little different from car to car which was fun and not a status symbol or source of anger and envy in others. People bought them to drive and enjoy not show off and boast about at cars and coffee. My first car, a short nose 275GTB cost $6500 which I guess at the time, thinking back, was a lot of money.
Very different world and in many cases a very different group of owners. Seeing your enthusiasm -collegeboy-brings back fond memories.

Wow. Thanks for all that and a good read. I'm glad my enthusiasm brings back fond memories, and means a lot for someone who has enjoyed these so long to like the care that I have for this car. It really is a dream come true. Also, yes, it does sound like more people used these cars like they were supposed to be back then and that would be great if it was also NOT status symbol and no one really noticed the car! As far as driving goes, I'm already planning my drive to LA and back to San Jose in a month. Can't wait. Then it'll be on Kaua'i for a few years, but I think I have the wife convinced to do a cross country drive in it in a year or two as long as someone can watch out kids during that time. Schedule it to time with an FCA event or two in certain areas to meet at along the way and just sight see. Would be great! Drive drive drive! What else is the point afterall?

$6,000 is about $60,000 today. A steal compared to the $2,000,000 those go for now. It is amazing how cheap things were, even with factoring inflation, during my parent's generation. In all hobbies. In another hobby of mine, things that were $50 or so when my dad was a little kid are now $30,000+. Glad you have been able to enjoy Ferrari's for so long. That really is something special. I hope you get to continue to enjoy them for many more years to come.

Post 218 - Car at Bryko Motors - Fuel Injectors came back from RC Fuel Injection with incredible before and after results

While doing all the work on my CS, the injectors were removed. I, at the last minute, saw a thread here about cleaning and rebuilding injectors (Something I did not know could be done before seeing that thread), and decided to give the recommended RC Fuel Injection a call. They have a 24-to-48-hour turnaround time and fully build them and clean them for less than $30 an injector. Everyone I talked to said it couldn't hurt to get it done, but also that it was nothing major and might not even be needed. I almost didn't do it, but Bryko Motors said I might as well, and they assured me that it would not hold up putting the car back together, so I went for it. Well, I am super thankful that I decided to! Look at these results!

For reference, this is a 2004 car with 19,500 miles.

Moral of the story, if you have your injectors off, you might as well get them professionally cleaned and rebuilt if the car is older or has been sitting around for a while during it's existence. Even if they do not appear to be giving you problems.

Post 221 - Car at Bryko Motors - Picked up and drove 1,000 miles in 5 days! (Part 1 - Pictures of the drive)

Too many pictures of parts getting put back together and cleaned to honestly post here, so I'll just summarize it and say the car was put back together. He fixed a ton of previous issues (Some around for 20 years) and made the car possibly the best it has ever been. Many more pictures and updates posted on Instagram @thechallengestradale

I'll try and keep this short. I flew into San Jose, and Jeriko actually picked me up from the airport in my car! What an absolute blast, and especially since I had not seen the car in so long. I hung out there for a while, got to meet Sam (360Trev tuner) and a few other people, then picked my car up later at Bryko Motors at 5:30am on Saturday morning and drove it strait 370 miles to Simi Valley. Hung out there for the day with a long-time car friend (the owner of Specialty Z), attended the Enzo Cruise In Event Sunday morning, and had an absolute blast at the event, seeing the cars, and meeting so many of your people! Right after the event, I hoped in the car and drove 370 miles strait back to Bryko Motors to drop off the car and flew back out the next morning on Monday. Almost 800 miles just there and back, and then another 200-ish just around town. What a 5 days!

First post is just various pictures from driving down and back. Even bumped into another CS driving around the day before. What are the chances?

Post 224 - Car at Bryko Motors - Picked up and drove 1,000 miles in 5 days! (Part 4 - Things I need to change and have fixed after the ultimate test drive)

The drive was wonderful, and the car did great. After 1,000 miles though I did notice a few things that needed to be fixed or that I wanted to change. Minor really after such a long and intense "test drive" after the major service. Again, I do much more posting on my Instagram account if you all want to follow there. @thechallengestradale

#1 The car is too loud with just the S-Line exhaust with no mufflers and with high flow cats. I love the pitch and sound, but it is too loud. The downshifts are pure heaven, and the look and quality is awesome, but the drone at 2,000 rpm’s is killer, and I just feel plain rude driving it around town when going slow. I ordered the S-Line valvetronic exhaust muffler tail pipe section directly from S-Line and Bryko is installing that. Just something to take the edge off and this will be perfect. We will still program it to be open at around 50% throttle though for when I want to make noise. I also personally do not like the smell a car has with high flow cats. I tried them in this car, and same thing. Can’t stand the smell. To fix that, we are cleaning up and are putting my factory cats back on. I believe this will be perfect for me and if so, I’ll have some Tubi high flow cats with 2,000 miles on them for sale soon. They are $6,500 for the pair when new for reference.

#2 A CEL popped up and after some testing, it was found that the variator solenoid on the drivers side went out. It’s 20 years old. It happens. Bought one and Bryko is installing it with the Hill Engineering tool.

#3 While there, they are also fixing some old damage on the side skirts. Might as well. Paint, bake, Re-3M wrap. During removal, Bryko found that they had actually been removed and repaired before and more than half of the installation hardware was mismatched and wrong. Not surprised at this point with the car. They had me order all new nuts and washers so when they install them back on, it will be correct.

#4 Bryko is going through the entire car one last time electronically and mechanically to make sure everything is perfect. He literally solved a 20 year old power window problem that the dealership had just been throwing parts at for the first decade of the car existing before just giving up and selling it owner after owner. Jeriko at Bryko Motors traced it properly and found and repaired an intermittent short that has been there I guess for 20 years. Took 2-3 hours to do it right with videos being sent to me throughout the whole process of them doing it and their findings. Finally fixed after 20 years. Crazy! Even removed the water pump housing to go ahead and do more deep cleaning with new gaskets, etc. Anyways, just buttoning things up.

More pictures to come and the car should be wrapped up in a week or two and headed back to the islands. Looking forward to it.

Looks good, but we also want sound clips of that Sline/catless setup!

I was reading your instagram post last night, and was surprised you have a drone at like 2000rpm with the Sline, on the F430 it sits abit higher at about 3500rpm you get a drone (or atleast mine does on highway driving at 130kph, so I tend to drive 140+ or under 120 to stay out of the drone)
