Very cool, thanks for sharing. What's the best way to get translation into English?

You can get translated subtitles on Youtube. Go into the settings on the video.

Love them both! The 906 is probably my favorite Porsche but the 206 S looks and sounds extra special! It’d be so awesome if they could put English subtitles…

Interesting final comment about Porsche feeling like a Limousine compared to Dino.

My Deutsche is quite rusty and lacking ability to detect nuances, so was he perhaps referring to just cockpit comfort/space or entire driving experience ?

    Entire driving experience.

"Disappointingly unspectacular. Seating position is a bit straining. But [the car is] quite alright. Drives like a 911, 901 transmission, everything quite normal"

"That's [quite] a difference. Compared to that the Porsche is a limousine. Holy sh*t. That thing pushes you to your limits."

I just watched the video with English captions (thank you miurasv!), and with particular interest as I test drove an immaculate and very well sorted Carrera 6 last fall. Cockpit is cramped, minimal headroom for helmet for anyone taller than 5'9", don't know how to secure a HANS with the original seat belts, seats are rigid and position is very upright (but manually adjustable fore/aft), have to remove steering wheel to enter/exit the cockpit, door is extremely light and mounting mechanism is rather loose, and your body will need to be limber/flexible/agile to maneuver into and out of the cockpit. In other words, getting in and sitting in a Carrara 6 isn't "limousine" like.

All of that becomes irrelevant once the engine is running and up to temp. Throttle response is instantaneous and engine torque is remarkably strong. Steering is nearly telepathic as you look where you want to go and there you will be. Brakes, in typical Porsche fashion, are top notch in providing great stopping power as well as feel. Yes, you can putter around in it (car is last street legal Porsche factory race car) as you wound a limousine, but why would you?

I didn't buy the car, as timing wasn't right , but can see owning one or a successor model (908,910) eventually.

Back in the mid-80s married friends of ours owned his and hers 906/Carrera 6s. They eventually sold both cars, bought a boat and sailed around the world….I’m sure the cars are worth far more today than the boat but they had no regrets.:)

Thanks, miurasv! Now that I know how to get English auto translate subtitles, my productivity may take a massive step down…

Fun to see and hear these great cars! The reviewer is pretty lame in my opinion, however. You can’t really say anything about race cars before driving them in anger in the proper conditions. He was really not going for it and this was not the right kind of track for relatively low horsepower but very light cars that excel in agility. Driving the Dino alone and the 906 with a passenger is no way to compare cars. Having a passenger makes a difference in a regular car and a MASSIVE difference in a car that’s inside 1,300 pounds! I understand that he was likely limited in what he could do and what track he could use. That’s totally fine, just don’t make grand pronouncements if you cannot get enough info. I’m sure the Dino is more exciting, I just think he was too quick to be dismissive of the 906…

I think that several things got lost in translation here:

    1) he is not dismissive about the Porsche. "Disappointingly unspectacular" and "just like a 911" might sound negative but were meant neutral or positive with 99% certainty.

    2) the idea of the story is to recreate the Carrera toy cars, which explains the selection of cars and tracks.

The publication he writes for is targeted towards 'small' collectors and old people who enthusiastically keep old cars running. They are not focussed on race or sports cars.

Tomorrow I'll check the article. Might summarize it here, if there is anything interesting in it
