WOW waiting for more info on this. The noise isn't drastic, but I need something more. The SF90 is sadly my worst sound car.
Why not Novitec, you can get sport cats without the GPF. The GPF is the real issue for sound. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I’d prefer the Novitec because of the X pipe. It seems that there have been issues with setups like these…waiting to see what transpires. I almost don’t mind the GPF if the valve can stay open and I get an x pipe in there.
Is it my, or is Qualifying and CT off better sounding, like the valves are open more of the time? Even compared to race mode.
I just checked in my garage. At operating temperature, at idle, there is absolutely no change in exhaust sound regardless of mode selection (CT OFF, Race, Sport, Qualifying or Performance).
It’s not in that respect. It has to do with valves opening. In sport, they are closed more than race and above. The sound is DEFINITELY better in race or ct off vs sport/wet. As is the handling of the car, same as all of them have been.
The valves open during cold start as well. That’s what I thought you were talking about when you mentioned CT Off keeping the valves open. I’ll check again the next time I drive it, but I’ve never noticed a difference in sound during driving with CT Off or in Race, in Qualifying or Performance, before. It all sounds the same to me.
Yeah, the valves work like the Pista. Open low rpm, then close, then open again. Quite annoying really. And I hate that they close on throttle lift. The sound difference is that they maybe close a little later and open a little sooner. Nothing drastic enough, but it’s the best stock mode in my opinion…
It is very sad that the dealer does not offer an aftermarket exhaust as an option like Lamborghini does. Because, now there is a balancing act.... if you add an exhaust and a modulator to monitor the system so it does not throw off the check engine light. So frustrating ... any attorneys on this tread and lets send Ferrari a letter - LOL ---- protest that we want more sound.....
It did a couple of times ( over the last 2.5 years) but the CEL went away on its own a few hours later after leaving it in closed mode. I would also say it was about a 20-25pct improvement. It still sounds like s**t.
Does anyone know if the Novitec back unit replaces the OPF as well? They sell OPF pipes too, so not sure. If it’s a valved exhaust with x pipe, that could help the sound, even with OPF.
The OPF is in the rear section and will cause a cel without a tune. We recommend voodoo exhaust, but novitec is great also it’s just expensive. We can fix the errors and control the valves in the tune. https://youtube.com/shorts/WfuhPvCib0c?si=dfFOuZepL3MuJ2vy https://youtube.com/shorts/GIXDclwwau4?si=xNysVSwSblsfPhKg
We sell tunes directly to a franchised Ferrari dealership. Ferrari dealerships don't have the ability to detect tune changes. It’s why we have to be cautious with how we tune to not jeopardize that.
F8 - Ferrari is making an improved exhaust per the dealer. My hope is they offer a like version of XX for SF.
Dropped off SF90 - saw Novitec display sign, prompted a discussion. Serv mgr. said new improved F8 exhaust from Ferrari was announced - since I don't own one - end of F8 exhaust discussion. On my Lambo SV - purchased factory exhaust / tune - transformed the car but there was an update it erased the tune and Lambo would not issue it back. Hope Ferrari sees a business opportunity / demand and can make a "race" for SF. I think a factory "race" exhaust Is needed for SF and perhaps XX.
