Same. Sainz is looking like a great option for any team. Perez so far has improved, I wouldn't be surprised though if Sainz is playing Merc and RB against each other now. If Perez does what he did last year, that seat opens up. Ric not performing either, Tsunoda likely to aston anyways in a year or 2...That RB might very well be where he ends up (pending Perez). Sainz is very technically minded, a team player too. Yes he's made his mistakes and continues to make them...but he's never been heralded as a driver in the same caliber as Leclerc, Max or Lewis. Which in a way has actually done him very well as there's been less pressure on him. Antonelli is doing awful. The way he's been hyped...wow. Way too much pressure on the guy.
If I were Sainz and my options were RB/Max or MB/Russell as a place to work, I'm taking MB you're the number 2 driver anyway so might as well choose the more peaceful work environment.
Why would Carlos be #2 by default????????? Russell is over rated. Sainz is a way more savvy and successful driver in F1 than Russell. Smarter, less mistake prone(Charles and Russell are the kings of mistakes in that group), Sainz is under rated and for no other reason than being near a 1 lap specialist who has literally tossed races and makes double the money. The marginal difference between Charles and Carlos is not worth the pay Charles gets. Astute, and aware as the race is ongoing. Id love to see Carlos at MB. I think George would be missing LH LOL! Sainz could easily challenge Russell for #1 at MB. He is not at all intimidated by Charles. Russell faces a degrading LH. George is quick but lacks the polish I see in Carlos as racer and tactician.
I don’t disagree, George hasn’t lived up to his promise but he’s the MB golden boy, he’ll be the number one whether it makes sense or not.
Guys, Leclerc has had 7 consecutive front rows when it comes to qualifying. He had a "bad" qualifying day yesterday. Much more than Sainz's qualifying.
Leclerc frustrated after “very aggressive” Ferrari F1 wing change fails to pay off Charles Leclerc was left a frustrated fifth in qualifying for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix after a “very aggressive” wing adjustment failed to pay off. Adam Cooper Mar 23, 2024, 3:01 PM Having looked good in Friday’s practice sessions, Leclerc was less happy in Saturday’s FP3 session and in qualifying he struggled with his front tyres. Having been fourth in Q1 and second in Q2, he tried a front wing change for his final run in Q3 in an attempt to find more performance. However, it didn’t pay off and having abandoned the run he had to settle for fifth. "To be honest, I think it's starting from much earlier in the weekend,” he said when asked by Autosport about his Q3 struggles. “In FP3 already, I felt like it was going away a little bit from me, but I was confident that it will come back the feeling in qualifying, as is normally the case. “Whenever we have a strange feeling in FP3, then you put the new tyres in quali, low fuel, and everything comes alive again. “Today wasn't the case. I struggled quite a lot with the front tyres, until the last run in Q3 where I went very aggressive with the front wing to try something, and I went the other way.
In addition to laps led, wins, grand slams, etc. We can celebrate Sainz without crapping on Leclerc and vice versa.
Funny! I thought that earlier. One of his engineers is there as they're about to go into surgery, tells the doc "Ok, whatever you don't put back in your MUST WEIGH to the nearest .01 g, and report back to me" sjd
I'd take the drive in the top team finishing on the podium every weekend and the chance of a win in case something happens to #1 over finishing 5th but beating my teammate...
But they see his greater performance in retail (shirts etc) and I’ll bet that pays for him. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
... but after a few races, Sainz could challenge Russell for #1 position if he performs better. Russell does not have a history that gets him a LH-like protection; if you're number 2 with LH at Mercedes, you stay number 2 no matter what - but if you're initially number 2 to Russell, I bet you could reverse order (if you're better on the track).
Man, the red cars went from hero to, well not today. Carlos had the best drive he cold get it seems. I hope Ferrari is having buyers remorse.
Yep, Sainz "lost it" in T9 and could not recoup. Any little mistake will cost you when qualifying against Max. So, high speed tracks looks like the RB20(Max) will win. However, the SF-24 looks to win at Monaco and Singapore when tracks are low speed.
I wonder if the race conditions are gonna be different again tomorrow compared to the Quali. Atleast Leclerc's side of Ferrari completely lost the set up balance they had on Friday. I'm hoping for Charles to pass Sainz easily tomorrow, just too see the chili brigades meltdown here.
This says more about George than Lewis. 13 years younger, undoubtedly now getting more of the team's attention and car setup focus than his "lame duck" teammate, only able to beat him by 59 thou. About one car length's difference at the finish of the lap. That said Carlos looked GREAT. Ferrari should put him and Lewis in identical cars and have them duke it out for next year's seat
