If Ferrari insist on Hamilton, then they should at least sign on Carlos for an option. Let him be a simulator driver and/or drive for another team, but with an option to bring him back if they so wish.

They're going to feel very stupid if Sainz goes to Red Bull and does well.

Sainz drove solid, congrats to whole team for the 1-2. But these claims that Carlos was somehow faster than Leclerc in race pace are incorrect.
Leclerc suffered from his Quali mistake by starting behind Norris and got stuck in his drs, this track is very difficult to overtake. From that point he had tire age deficit to Sainz, both hard tire stints with 7 laps older tires. Even then the last hard stint was way stronger from Leclerc than Sainz, he managed his tires enough to even get the fastest lap. Sainz deserved his victory, he got to drive at the lead whole race and get best tire strageties, but I don't like when truth is twisted.

But I think is a very good sign for the Scuderia, Sainz was probably still only 95% fit and Leclerc didn't have the most optimal set up. I think in perfect conditions Ferrari could have been even quicker.

Most important thing is the car.
They have hugely improved since last year and as enjoyable the Sainz victory is today, this is just a detail compared with the big picture.
If they managed to hire Newey in the coming weeks then we are in for a new cycle.

A bit of a gift but heaven knows we've earned it. Great job by everyone on the team. Well earned 1-2.

2nd best thing to a 1-2? Max chewing out his crew chief on TV.

The main thing they are there to pick up the pieces, a bit more aggressive development and they could be regularly putting RB under pressure.

Congrats to Sainz! Tremendous performance from Ferraris sacked number 1 driver. Why are we paying Leclerc so much for so long again?! We’ve fired the wrong guy!

Meanwhile, both Perez and Ricciardo are doing a great job at ensuring this is their last season in F1. Good. We need fresh talent in the sport.

Excellent result for Ferrari, beautiful race from Sainz. So much for the nay-sayers.

Well in the end they have found Alonso Guilty for what appears as a disgusting move in a very high speed corner.
I love Fernando as a driver but he should have been disqualified for this one.

I’ve just seen this news and agree. If he genuinely brake tested Russ there, then he has endangered another driver deliberately and that should be a straight disqualification.

Time to get the popcorn ready. This story will run and run…

It was obvious Alonso brake tested Russel, and it's not the first time. He should banned from the next race.

Ferrari don't need Newey, who is in the twilight of his career. They need to build their own team that can stay for many years to come, and start a dynasty of success, like Mercedes recently had.

Enrico Cardile has proven himself worthy of leading the chassis design department for years to come. Clearly Binotto and Sanchez held him and his team back. There is no reason to upset the balance right now when they're proving themselves worthy of leadership.

I rather see Newey as a super consultant bringing some audacious ideas to the team.
With a lot of spare time to design a V12 road car..
    His legacy.
