Max does a Max again, congrats to him. Our boys did great as well. Hopefully theyboth finish on the podium.

Oh, and the chaotic downfall of Mercedes really warms my heart.

I think that spin might rival Nelson Junior’s in Singapore.

I suppose you could look at Aston for special treatment of youngster vs old man too. But then it wouldn’t be 3-0 Quali and 2-0 Race for the ‘chosen one’ at Aston…..lol.

Unless F has the superior car LH will be a disaster.
    And they won't.

I agree, Russell would have been a better pick.

Anyone know why Alonso had such a poor lap? I didn't see a replay of the lap or any post quali interviews

I think Sainz should go to Audi next year. As someone said, stamp his authority, and build the team around.

Hamilton is just proving that he's really a average driver in extraordinary cars all this while.

It really sucks Ferrari dumped Sainz!

he should not be jumping to Red Bull immediately, they could be completely exploding by the end of the year…

His appendix has not been an issue during his career, just the last week or so. I still have mine going on 56 years and it hasn’t impacted my career.

Sports tends to lean towards youth, I just don’t see how Hamilton has a lot to contribute now.

Fun fact: this win puts Carlos on the same number of wins as Mike Hawthorn (3 wins for Ferrari) and Phil Hill (3 wins for Ferrari).

It's hard to believe that Hawthorn won the 1958 WDC with only 1 win, when the second (Moss) scored 4 wins, and the 3rd (Brooks) 3 wins. The championship had 11 GPs that year, and regularity paid dividends for Hawthorn who scored mostly podiums that year.
And in 1961, Phil Hill took the title with 2 wins, just like the second (VonTrips) and the 3rd (Moss).

You have to admit based on the past several years it was a reasonable assumption. If not for a brake failure, do you think Sainz would have won? I think most here would say "no".

    oh good grief no...

It's also reasonable that you'd assume Max would run away with it...which he would have had the team not let him down...

On to Japan....where Max will smite the field with his maxiness.

I thought he was doing a great job of holding down 11th today ;). . 3-0 Russ in quali, 3-0 Russ in race.

Per the Alonso mess, always found it bewildering why some of the greats seem so hellbent to stain their unparalleled careers on incidents beneath contempt.

I think all the greats have stains on their legacies. Part of what makes them great is a win at all costs attitude that sometimes crosses a line. Alonso's "brake check" would have been genius if he didn't slow down quite as badly and/or Russell didn't crash. How quickly things can go from masterclass to dirty in the court of public opinion.

We’ll never know but it did seem like in the first few laps Sainz was competitive!

I don't disagree but you have to wonder if his brake was sticking from the start of the race.
