I don't buy that either. It's not hard to imagine Alonso probably knew damn well the stewards were going to look into his movement against Russel, and it's easy for him to fake his peddle sticking or some other issue.

shout out to Ferrari pit crew - Lec's blazing 2.1s stop allowed him to get out JUST ahead of Perez and FA for the final stint.
Sainz also had very quick stops. Well done boys!

Excellent 1-2 for Ferrari. It’s great to see them back on the top step. Well-earned result from the drivers and the team.

It must be said, however, that the drivers were told to hold positions immediately after Leclerc took 3 seconds out of Sainz and was going to attempt a pass. These two were never racing each other, so the talk of superior and inferior race pace is bollocks. Furthermore, if Leclerc raced, some of you would be saying he’s not a team player and since he didn’t, some of you are saying he had inferior pace when he was simply coasting since the team order. I like Sainz and an underdog story just fine, but let’s not muddy it with spin.

It's possible Alonso was rabbiting the throttle to make it look like he was having throttle issues.

Looks like Aston won't appeal the penalty. That's because they know the evidence is damning and they're driver is guilty.

Not a good look for Alonso at all.

    Forza Ferrari!

And Forza Sainz, I hope he'll be able to do a "Perez" at the end of this season. Ideally getting a decent contract before the end actually.

    Why only a "decent" contact?
He should have his pick of teams. Multiple race winner, solid demeanor, seems to whine less than many others, and great driver.
Are there still questions about his race-craft?

Come on - look at the telemetry graph above. No excuse for slowing that much more than usual on the last lap.

Lucky break for the Scuderia. Good to see them win but really it’s only because Max dropped out. If he didn’t break down he,d have won yet again. IMO that’s their only hope right now as they just can’t beat him otherwise.

Ferrari really should be worried about Lewis. His performance this year is atrocious. Yes, the car isn’t the best but he can’t even beat George. He is showing zero drive to win. Yet we have Carlos fighting tooth and nail to prove he’s worth it?

    This,
Some people are just talking about Sainz as a better driver compared with Charles.
    He isn’t.
He’s a very good driver of course.
Nevertheless Ferrari perfectly knows why they have choosen Charles instead of Carlos.

Please, let’s be honest. If the Redbull didn’t have a failure odds are Ferrari would have been second.

Great to see the win none the less but winning this way is absolutely nothing to brag about. Today was a welcome gift but they didn’t “beat” Max.

    When was this call -

    Charles Leclerc speaks
It feels good mostly for the team of course. First and second didn’t happen since Bahrain 2022. It’s amazing that we can do that. Carlos has had an incredible weekend to come back after his surgery. On my side I struggled a bit more with the first hard. First and second was the best we could do. In the first stint we had to protect behind we had to stop a bit earlier and from that point Carlos was too fast... again Carlos has done a better job all weekend and he definitely deserves that victory.

--Sainz got his lead up to 8.7 seconds before Leclerc stopped for a second time on lap 34 as Norris had started to close on the Monegasque, but the leader waited until the end of the 41st lap to make his own switch to a second set of hards.
Leclerc had got the lead down to five seconds, but Sainz stabilised and added half a second on over the following laps to create another buffer. Although he complained that his tyres did not "feel great" with three laps to spare, Sainz had enough in reserve to close the lead out - helped by Russell's race-ending shunt as he was battling Fernando Alonso.--

Great win for Fred and the boys! Ferrari picked the right man to lead. Also nice to see both Haas drivers in the points. Checo seemed lost.

The Ferrari isn’t worlds away from Red Bull and the team was able to capitalize on Verstappen’s failure. I’ll take it.

Well Ferrari engineers are pretty sure Carlos would have had a fair chance to beat Max on pure pace..

    This is absolutely true.
    But,
    A couple of races isn’t a championship.

On this circuit they were closer. Will be interesting at Suzuka and how the circuit characteristics favor or do not certain teams.

Perez post race thinks the same thing in his interview.

(Whether you give credence on Perez's mindset on such a situation is dependent on you)

I dont care about that. I asked as I didnt recall the team specifying an ordered finish. Was curious when that was issued. My only question.

Very diplomatic of Charles not to talk about the order to hold position with less than a second gap. He already has a contract; no need for sour grapes, or is that what we are looking for now? Hard to keep up with the constant Leclerc catch-22s on this forum.
