    Yeah, I hear it's going to ICE, NA with a manual gearbox.

    You heard it here first.

    A modern Ferrari with that would be incredible

    like the new Porsche 911 S/T

    Those are the ones to hang on to as electrics take over everything

    manual gearbox. wont happen. Nor would it be an option as the cost would be insane, due to development costs etc. If Ferrari did go manual (they wont) it would be only for a V12

    I think an Icona without a V12 would be problematic.

    Race cars are not subject to street car emissions rules.

    To sell a street car, in general you need a few things

    * looks great
    * big power
    * good sound
    * flattering and fun to drive (these together help grab the imagination)
    * trusted brand (this gives the confidence to buy)
    * compliance with all rules and regulations

    How many of the above are required for a great race car? I think it’s a different game entirely. What matters is quick and repeatable lap times. Id imagine the race car driver doesnt really care if there isnt much low down torque or the drivability of the engine in traffic.

    Again, dropping the hybrid in favor of lighter weight (the car will still not be truly light) and perhaps less system complexity are favorable to my eyes, but I just don’t think it’s realistic.

    When finally released- anybody have an idea on the hoops to order one?

    will having a 296GTB and GTS be enough?

    I dont think anyone here could answer that question for you today. Having a 296 in the garage, or on order, will probably be a good start.

    1st I was not talking about the Vs just stating that the 296 C like the GT3s were non hybrid
    Will the Vs be hybrid I am 99% sure it will. If its not its going to have to be something very special.

    If the VS is Hybrid I'd be interested to know how difficult it is to make a 296 Challenge car road legal.
    Please Ferrari make the VS non hybrid and then we can get it in RHD.

    Demand from RHD countries will make it happen . Japan has had high demand for 296 thus there is a good chance of RHD VS

    There is always a RHD VS.
    My point was that Challenge cars are all LHD (since the 355 I think).
    I am most interested in a non hybrid 296 for the road so if VS is hybrid then converting a Challenge car seems the only option.

    Who is going to buy a Vs that only has around 690hp when the standard model is over 800hp and will out perform it?
    even without the extra weight of the hybrid system its not going to drop the weight enough.
    So unless they make the engine bigger say 3.5L or 4L I can see how they would do it or get anyone to buy it as it wont be cheap

    Me for 1 !!
    Actually it is quite an interesting question.
    Who else on this thread would consider a 296 VS if Ferrari dropped the non hybrid Challenge engine into the car ?

    I would consider if it was significantly lighter and had trick aero but I think it is a remote possibility of a Vs car that is down close to 20% in hp on the normal version

    I would certainly be interested. For those of us who track our cars, we appreciate the benefits of lower weight because of the affect on consumables, especially the tires, suspension components, and brakes. I could see a niche where it wasn’t quite as fast in a straight line but faster on a circuit.
