“Not really hard” ? The F167 is going up against a carbon fiber chassis limited edition 7-figure flagship hyper car with low-polar moment of inertia mid engine V12 that is boosted by a high torque electric motor. I think it’s going to be a pretty big deal that a comfortable luggage swallowing unboosted normally aspirated front engined touring sports car beats it.
I'm not sure it's a given that it will be faster than a Comp. 812 SF (1:21.5) was faster than an F12 (1:23.0), but slower than a TDF (1:21.0). F8 Tributo (1:22.5) was faster than the 488 GTB (1:23.0), but slower than the Pista (1:21.5). If you extrapolate those two data points, you'd guess that the F167 would be somewhere between the Comp (1:20.0) and the 812 SF (1:21.5). It would suggest something in the neighborhood of 1:20.5, which would still be slower than the LaFerrari (1:19.7). No reason to think that needs to be the case. But if @Forza Scuderia is right, it's a bit of a scoop because it would break from that recent "tradition". If it is faster, cool! If not, it won't bother me.
F167 is clearly a Ferrari and it will be very distinctive. I have been told that the rear is inspired from a Ferrari SP car. That all makes great sense, if you have read some comments of well informed people here; that rear will have some similarity with a 365 GTB4 - exhaust pipes, rear lights and tearing edge but is otherwise very innovative.
To be driven at 2:04.70 by owners at Ferrari track events....................... Thank Christ for the extra HP and high rev engine!!! Shame no hybrid and 1,000hp as the poseurs would be able to crack the 2 min barrier then.........just sayin.....
Great comment on bringing up the SP51. I really forgot about that car but now that you mentioned it I've been taking a closer look at it. The front nose does extend further out like the 365 Daytona but it's modern and not huge like the Daytona's nose. It's tasteful. Also on the hood of the SP51 there are vents on either side. If you look at the side of the SP51 hard enough I think you can see a little Roma in there and that may be what past comments have been referring to with F167 being more elegant. The SP51 also has the round taillights however it looks like a light bar, if that's what F167 ends up having, would fit nicely across the rear. I wouldn't be surprised if Ferrari took a bunch of cues from the SP51 and used them on F167. Especially the front end. I guess we will just have to wait til May 2nd for now. Still think the back of the car is where all the interest is going to be—apart from the low, sleek look of the car, already evident even with camo. I cleaned up my last sketch to try to make it more appealing while trying to capture all the “Easter eggs” seen on the prototypes. Roof was simplified, body forward of rear axle looked too much like a lot of other F cars so tried something different, and the low rear deck—level with tail lights as drawn previously—was too low as shown in side view so is raised a bit, though this may even be a wing of some sort on the real car. I added the ‘Daytona’ crease already proposed in an earlier sketch but modified to match details at the rear. The wheels were partially divulged in spy pic and are obviously a ‘skinny 5-spike’ design. Curious to see if they come close to the wheels I drew back when we were guessing the look of the Pista. I think the distinctive rear design of the car, the rear window, the tail lights, the rear hatch, the rear fender venting, and what’s going on in the rear center section and how it all comes together … these things are not guessable. Someone has to articulate and describe them to us to make further progress
Clearly you failed to read. the 812 Comp was only 0:00.30 slower than the LaFerrari so with the F167 being all round better than the Comp it will Lap faster too. Given its the last front engine N/A V12 ferrari know it has to be
Its the final front N/A it has to be better than all past front engine N/A V12 Ferrari know it and we know it
No it isn’t and no it doesn’t. As mentioned before, they didn’t make 812 faster than TDF. I don’t think they will for F167. The purpose of this car is reportedly more GT than was the case with the aggressive dynamics and styling on the 812. The engine won’t be much more powerful than the 812 SF, the weight won’t be less most likely. The only thing that could change things is the new PS style suspension that it might carry. But if previous comments prove accurate, this will be used to provide softer suspension without sacrificing body control. But it will add weight. With the SF90 as the halo line, the pressure is off the V12 line and it makes sense for Ferrari to produce a proper ‘super GT’, something the 812 isn’t really - too performance oriented for that. Perhaps all the indications are wrong and they have found a way to break with tradition and make the car faster than the Comp. But I’m not seeing that in the styling studies all the guys are producing from the mule images. There we see a stylish GT, in the mould of the 365 Daytona. And that car was super-stylish, fast, but not the last word in weight or handling (it was 1,000 lb heavier than the 275 and slower to 100 mph).
I was offered similar but was told that early cars are going to need to be "simple spec" so I'll wait for a later slot with no spec restrictions.
Why does F167 have to be faster than 812C? Surely thats the task of the F167 Comp, whenever that comes… It just needs to be faster than 812SF.
So you propose we stop all guessing until the car is revealed, LOL? There are literally almost 300 pages of ‘guessing’ already so I’m going with: let’s keep guessing.
I’m sure it won’t! But then I have never confused a Ferrari with a Corvette. Or a Camaro as some imply. I’ve been reading this thread since inception and I am super excited to see what emerges! Some very talented folks here. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The reference to the one-off SP 51 is very pertinent as compared to the 812 GTS it appears more streamlined with softer lines. Below is the result of superimposing the picture of the SP 51 on the F167 mule, as happened previously with the drawing made by Ohno. In a simplistic analysis, at first glance it seems to me that the F167's body is closer to the ground and is longer than that of the SP 51. Yeah I’m just making an appeal to those who have seen the car. Help us out here with the rear design. Throw us a bone, man!
Primarily what’s going to make the F167 so epic is that it will incorporate new suspension technologies and electronic aids that will make it both a more agile and better riding car.
Haha! Same. If I had a dollar for everytime folks asked me if one of our Ferraris was a Mustang. They see the “Horsey” badge…. [emoji5]
Car will be slightly shorter, slightly heavier([emoji20]), have another 30 or so more hp but will handle better and be almost if not as fast as the Comp(a 7 min Ring time please?!). If it has the overall lines of the SP51 especially as a spider version it will be a grand slam. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
As with prior SP cars, Ferrari 's business plan to have a special client spend millions on design talent, r&d, etc. then pull from that effort into production cars is brilliant.
Are we sure there will be a F167 “comp”? I heard it could be like the F8 (where the Pista before it was the last special series for that line). Could be the Comp is the last special series for this line and the reason they’re making the F167 significantly more expensive is because a special series of that isn’t on the way. The F167 as a last “Tributo” might be special enough. It could make sense. Pista was the race version for the 488 and Comp is also the race version for the 812. Seems like a good match to go out on before the new lines come in. Plus, it seems the demand for the F167 is already so high, that there might be a bit of a wait or might be tough to get one at all if Ferrari doesn’t make a lot of them. At least that seems to be the market around here.
The simple explanation is "tyres". The LaFerrari on today's Cup 2 R, or Trofeo RS tyres, would annihilate both the Competizione and the 167 project.
