I bought a 78 sc (bare bones, non sun roof has wind up windows) as my old man car. Don't drive it that much but when I do it's just fine, lazy car that still surprises you and makes you smile. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My next Porsche -I'd like to think I'll find one before the end of 2024. Will be a current 992 T (rare and not around ) manual with NO rear seats and I'll keep it long term and drive it often -The perfect event car. A Ferrari is pure “theatre”, no doubt about that, I just know that when I go into semi-retirement (Radiologists never fully retire btw ) I won’t want the “drama” that goes with owning a Ferrari, in particular having to deal with mechanics. Classic Porsche ownership is easier Btw, how many 911s have you driven? Rhetorical, your opinion is null and void too!!
Perfect car be it air-cooled or modern for our style drives ..I've never been disappointed owning a 911 be a new one (3) or a classic. Whereas Ferrari -NO desire to own one ever again be it classic or modern!
I often drove a 930 3.0 years ago (the 1st one in the country) Quick Supercar and beautifully built (full leather dash) with as much leather as a period Rolls-Royce. However, moving on 25 years later I preferred driving my same period Carrera 3.0l . Would I have one today YES not to drive hard but as a Coffee &Cake car to enjoy or a trip like I just did to Canberra with no hero driving .
My Carrera 3.0 250,000kms odd motor never touched till I turned her into an Historic SC car Try doing that in a period V8 Ferrari ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferraris would do those kms all day. There are a plenty of 348 owners out there with well over 100,000 miles on their Ferraris with their original engines. One fella has/had 160,000 kms on his black 348 TS in the US with the original engine still in it. That was around 10 years ago now, I bet he's nearing or over 200,000 miles on it now, it was his daily driver. And that's just the 348s i've seen here myself on the forum. I'm sure there are many other Ferraris out there with the same ridiculous amounts of kms on them also. Enzo owner (he actually drives the car for his mate) has just clocked over 100,000 miles in his red Enzo over in the US. Daily driven and does a lot of car events also. All original that engine also. The more you drive them the more they love it. JM has racked up plenty of km's in his 355. He will have over 200,000 kms on that car in another 20 years when it's still driving it well into his 80s.
