I understand it as the specs you can create on the general configurator available to anyone on the official Ferrari Website No Extra campionario, atelier, tailor made stuff
I actually took it to mean even with too much stuff like suspension lift and stereo upgrades tbh but I didn't ask as was a relatively quick conversation. My assumption (which is probably incorrect!) was ok to choose colours, materials etc but less likely things that change components beyond materials so things like suspension lift and stereo upgrade might struggle to be included. I'm also going to see if I could angle for a factory visit to spec it with atelier but my dealership said they only get a few such appointments per year. I probably don't want to go TM although am considering it.
There IS going to be Comp or Versione Speciale of both coupe and spider F167. Only reason F8 didn’t get one is because F8 itself was meant as a detuned more touring version of Pista and a way for Ferrari to monetize 458 platform one more time before launch of 296. I told everyone there would be no F8 VS. I’m telling everyone now there WILL be coupe and spider VS of F167. Will have 875 bhp and lap Fiorano at 1:18.25
That was about marketing and keeping the Vs buyers happy that there model was still the best. When the new model came out. This is the Last front engine N/A V12 model so the rule book is out the door. Glaze of glory so to speak... It will look more GT but that doesn't mean its won't be a really performer. Yeah hp will only be 20 to 30 more but it will rev into 10K that and a few other things will make it out lap the LaFerrari and you have to take into account its now 10+ years old. technology has come along way. anyways we both will have the answer very very soon
Aren’t you amazed people still believe Fiorano lap times that are 10 years apart in terms of tire technology…the only scenario in which a Competizione or F167 will match a LaF for performance is in freefall…. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Ferrari spent a lot of time and effort a few years ago identifying the different segments of the customer base.I believe the model line up is,in part, evolving to reflect what the company believes those different segments want. To me the 812 was never really a GT car and Ferrari never called it one.I think the 167 will be quicker but also more relaxing for long journeys. A 167 and 296 VS (Non hybrid) would be my perfect 2 car garage !!!
So I guess you’re saying the only way an SF90 would beat a LaFerrari is in a free fall as well right? Because it’s just the tires right? Lol
We all know tires have effect and Ferrari SIM knows what the car should run at Fiarano. It's a fun show - how the car handles / narrator is the best part and imagining yourself being that guy. This is what makes it fun - being a kid all over again.
Tire choice can obviously make a huge difference. (So can conditions and the driver.) But it's not like they ran the Comp on slicks and the LaF on all-seasons. I'd have guessed that (a) Ferrari uses tires that are close to optimal at the time it sets an "official" time around Fiorano, and (b) tire technology hasn't advanced that much in the last ten years. Could they get another couple tenths out of the LaFerrari with today's tires? Most likely. But I wouldn't have guessed much more than that. Do you think that's wrong? (FWIW, I don't particularly care about the lap times of my street cars, though they mean more to me than, say, 0-60 or top speed. It's an imperfect measure - just like 0-60 - but it's still fun to look at and gives you some sense of what it will feel like behind the wheel.)
Amen brother! Been saying that for years. Spoke with one of my guys who has not had a sneak peek. During our chat reiterated I'm a coupe guy and that back in the day I never opened up the roof of my SL 55 and always drove it as a "coupe," if you will. His response: "If the open version was a targa, would I be interested?" Hmmmmm....................trade roof mechanism for suspension weight???????????? Yup. Spoke to one of my guys. Sounds like at least early allocations will be a 'tweener regarding purchase history for this car- neither the draconian VS nor the money grab walk in the door/warm body allocations. Previous V12(s) history and long term ownership of 12(s) will be an important criteria- IOW less than 2 year flippers will count against you. Also, given the demand ie the hype regarding the last NA V12 (sounds like hybrids in the future) even during the wind down phase they will still maintain higher selection criteria & won't just do a money grab............... I guess reality will be somewhere in between as it usually is.
I would love a targa- less weight, less moving parts and keep the coupe outline. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Do you really think that the tyres used by Ferrari in these tests are the ones you can order for your car ? Ask to Chris Harris... it's more than likely that if you use its rubbers on an LF it will break the XX record...
Read my post again. I am referring to the F167 which will have at least 150hp less than a SF90 and probably weigh considerably more. However since you’re at it and since I own both a LaF and a SF90 I believe that a LaF on the same tires as a SF90 will be faster around Fiorano. The LaF has the same power and weighs over 200kg less with fluids. Downforce as far as I can remember is similar, in the mid 300s at 200km/h Ferrari quotes a faster Fiorano lap time for the SF90 by just 0.7sec, the 5 year difference in tyre technology is worth much more. No one has done the test, so my opinion is as good as anyone’s, but that is what I think SF90XX is a different story. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I'm sure they aren't. My point is that it's not like they were sandbagging when they set a time in the LaF. And I'm no tire expert, but I'd personally be surprised if tires have advanced that much in the last ten years. A few tenths, sure, but a few seconds would surprise me. Anyway, I have no horse in this race. (Puns intended.)
Sorry for the off topic, but i have a question for the owners from the UK. Whats the annual road tax for your Ferrari (and other expensive cars if you have). Can you write the ammount of mobey per year and model. Thanks
I’m with you on the perfect garage but probably would make it 3 cars. my 812 GTS, the F167 convertible and upcoming T33 spider. Waiting to see if the F167 will complete the trilogy.
First of all - yes. If you (Chris Harris) know differently - certainly you and CH have pictures taken from House of Enzo on tires run that day to prove otherwise. You are saying the LaF on same tires as XX beast XX on track - downforce / gearbox vs spin repeat.
I reiterate that published Fiorano lap time for regular F167 will be 1:19.5 which is better than LaF. You will see.
Obviously I do not write in proper English, apologies…no one is disputing the 1:19.5…what I am telling you is that a LaF with modern tyres will do a lap in under 1:19:00 which is what the SF90 is supposed to do Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
so conclusion is that progress in lap time for every new Ferrari is not so easy to get? and SP90 portrayed as fastest Ferrari ever is marketing trick?
Oh my. This announcement better come soon! And was the same quality of fuel used then as now? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
