I'm skeptical. There was a silver converted 360 that was for sale at about the same time I bought my F1, and I would have paid the premium it was listed for if it wasn't silver. That's not to suggest there is a $15k+ premium or that it's anything close to the OEMs, but I was ready to pay an extra $5-10k.

It's funny, 15 pages about EAG going out of business. One actual post by EAG with no info and only one person bothered interacting with it. The rest are hung up on the merits of a conversion. :D

It's truly remarkable. I've owned many kinds of cars over the years and I've never seen so many people upset with me doing anything to a car before. I've gotten more outrage converting my Ferrari to a manual using mostly new OEM parts than using my viper as a lawn tractor.

I definitely get your point, but man does that look sweet, a pristine low miles stick. You're right, it probably will negatively affect the potential value but so nice.

I can't for the life of me imagine why the shifter ballhead is crooked though, such an easy fix and bad look.

Hard to call it a debate when the reality is everyone has driven an f1, but very few have driven a gated 430, factory or converted. CS/scud even more of a ridiculous debate.

Still waiting for the conversion of an Enzo... Although there were no (but who knows, maybe there was, in the production after the 400th Enzo :D) "manual" Enzo, it still has an F1 system, i.e. some electric and hydraulic garbage on top of a totally good mechanical gearbox. So conversion to manual should not be that difficult.
Just imagine how the value of an already sought after Enzo would skyrocket after such improvement.
I can't figure out why Enzo owners are not queuing to get it done.

Convert the car if that is what you want.
I'm skeptical that any large perceived value will translate to the next owner.

If resale is in your future, IMO, this is huge gamble on a market that constantly changes.

Perhaps, EAG began to figure that out. Cost > return.

I have not seen a single upset comment about doing conversions, only with the people being paid for doing them and their business practices.
A few shake their heads and opine its a bad idea but only a dyed in the wool snowflake would mistake that as being upset at anything.

someone said this about the scud and im pretty sure he wasn't paid off:

"Within 30 seconds I decide that EAG’s creation, the Ferrari that doesn’t exist, slots easily into my top five motoring experiences of all time, handily bumping the spectacular 488 Spider off my "personal favorite Ferraris" podium. This is everything I want from a Ferrari. Literally, everything."

"Remember those upgraded synchros I mentioned in the SF2 gearbox? Well maybe you can time them with the paddles, but with a lever you can feel them working. Because of this, a manual-converted Scuderia will shift even smoother and slicker than a factory-built stick 430. Though I wasn’t able to compare back-to-back, the synchros, especially in first and second gear, are particularly slick, and I have no problem stating definitively that this is one of the finest manual transmissions I have ever used."

"There is no reason at all I couldn’t commute every day, even in bad traffic, in one of these. It’s got tons of feel, but requires very little effort. Spectacular."

I've had people send me personal messages on here about me "bastardizing" my car.

You'll have to forgive me for mistaking the various forms of purist snobbery as I don't frequent the elbow rubbing, wine tasting concours events.

There have been a few very low mileage 430s sell in the 150 range. With the cost of the EAG conversion I agree it should have sold at that price. It did have some nice options….I liked the spec. I did find the black steering wheel to be odd though.

If you have a modified car, good for you. Obviously you wanted it that way. I think the issues result when someone with their modified car posts it thinking it's the way everyone would want their car.

Expecting everyone to ordain your personal tastes can be a sobering experience. You make your car they way you want it. And that is the way it should be.

And then the next owner spends a bunch of time and money undoing all those custom mods.

My 360 Spider had this god awful huge sound system that destroyed the "B" pillars and the little rear glove box. The wiring alone for that silly sound system weighed in at 35 lbs., and the speakers were nearly 80 lbs. Then there's the large pre-amp in the frunk and all the holes they cut in the body for the wires. It was done sloppy, and poorly, and restoring my car has been a long process.

That's what happens when you customize a car like a Ferrari and then sell it. Rarely does the next owner value customizations like the one who paid for the work.

You can also bet that the next owner, or one down the line, will think the factory sound system is lame and redo it with a huge sound system with giant speakers and miles of heavy wire.

I understand the non-OEM conversion piece of that theory and fully agree. What's your perspective on the OEM conversion? Do you consider that equally as "customized?" Those parts were in place before F1, especially on Maranellos, so technically the F1 is a factory customization of the fundamental transmission design. :)
