Since the two cars are almost the same what’s the explanation for such different lap times in Fiorano ?

My SF90 is Giallo Sirius, which is yellow with a greenish overtone. It's awesome!

Subtle but there. I really like it. Much more depth than Triplo Strato, which is amazing as well.

I kind of agree. Spectacular on the SF90 for sure, but kind of misses the runway on the new GT.

Thank you, I appreciate the response. Yes, no doubt there can be huge differences between different tires. I'm not surprised that Trofeo Rs are worth 1.4 seconds over conventional PZeros. And I'm sure they'd have found a few seconds more on a soft slicks.

That wasn't precisely my question though. I'm asking how much improvement there's been within a given tire category - in particular, the sorts of very high performance street tires Ferrari would use on a LaF or the F167. How much faster is a set of Trofeo Rs today than a set of comparable tires from ten years ago? Are we talking a couple tenths, or a couple seconds?

Of course if Ferrari doesn't routinely choose the best tire for the job, my question is largely moot. I'd have guessed they would, but @Caeruleus11's example of the TDF and Comp tire choices has disabused me of that premise. :)

In reply to the Cocoloco post above:

I think what he means is that it’s a mild upgrade of the base SF90 but that the marketing department decided to spin it as a true XX for the road, which it clearly is not. Either way, they sold them all so everyone at Ferrari is no doubt happy.

Nothing new… just playing around with “my color configurator“. :D As already mentioned here in the thread, lighter colors look good on such a simple, modern design. For example “Azzurro California” or this “Bronzo Masaru” (that color looks incredible, right?). These colors then form a nice contrast to the dark parts on the roof and the front… Show your courage to use lighter colors... the world outside is dark enough!

So I just checked with the authorities and apparently it is still legal to register a car in a Miami even though it is painted in Azzurro California ;-)

Also … I know I have said this before but, you have totally NAILED the look of this car I think. That swage line … the fender flare … oooooooh!

No wonder somebody reached at to you and said ‘that’s enough out of you mister!’ Lol

Why is it not a true XX for the road - first XX the premise from Ferrari.
When Ferrari F1 XX Div builds a track car for the road / breaks records and calls it an XX - it's an XX.
There is no discussion - you don't have to like but it's theirs to do so and they did.
BTW - The factory the dealers owners mechanics marketing top to bottom.
I guess the 812Comp isn't a real Comp - welcome to the car world.
