After some spirited driving last weekend I parked the 575 in the garage, and everything seemed fine. This morning I used the immobilizer and saw it move from first gear to neutral and fired it up.
After a little warm up I tried to put it into reverse to back it out, and it showed it went into reverse and then slipped back into neutral. After several more attempts, I pulled the paddle to shift it into first gear, and it showed that it went into first and then slipped back to neutral. I attempted several more times with no luck.
I turned the car off, and started it up again. Now attempts to put the car in either reverse or first gear show nothing at all. The car just stays in neutral

Any thoughts or ideas? I plan to wait a half hour or so and see if there is some type of self correcting reset.

One thought would be to turn off the battery for 30 minutes to be safe and then try the proper start up procedure. These cars can be finicky, you never know.

When was the last time the F1 system was serviced and PIS adjusted? Selecting neutral is the F1 system's way of telling you there is a problem with the F1 system or the clutch. Best to have it diagnosed by an expert, but difficult when she is acting like an overgrown planter. Better stuck in neutral than in gear, though, which is why she does that. At least you can push her.

Problem solved! I was travelling yesterday, so I never got a chance to start the car again and try shifting into reverse or first. When I walked out to the car this morning, I noticed that the hood was not secure, it was laying down, but apparently I never pushed hard enough to secure the latch.
After latching the hood the car started properly, and after a brief warmup I was able to put the car in reverse or first. I suspect it was the insecure hood latch. Thanks for the interest and suggestions!
